The Princess Games: The Princess Trials, Book 2

I love the concept of this story but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. The writer leaves gaping holes in the plot which leaves the reader confused and rereading sections to try and figure out where the missing pieces are. It also doesn't help that there are a lot of spelling and grammatical errors.

This book was brilliant. It kept me on the edge of my seat. This is a cross between the Hunger Games and the Selection. This is the second book in the Princess Trials series and so much better than the first. The games are more dangerous. The participants are more intense. Zea-Mays Calico is from the Harvester region in the Kingdom of Phangloria. She enters the Princess Trials, which isa competition to win the hand of Prince Kevon. Secretly, she enters as a member of the Red Runners, a secret rebel group, to find secret passageways that will allow them to infiltrate the palace and kill the royal family. She wasn't counting on falling in love with Prince Kevon though. There were so many twists and turns in this book. I didn't see some of them coming. Zea can't trust anyone. Girls she thought she could be allies end up trying to kill her or Prince Kevon. Girls she never expected warm up to her and apologize to her.We get a better idea of what the Queen is like in this book. There is so many details in this book. Zea is brave and conflicted. Her family is on the line and she must do as the Queen says so they don't get murdered while protecting Prince Kevon who she is so much in love with. Zeas secrets are revealed. She is punished, beaten, and imprisoned. She is fighting for whats right, but it seems like she is fighting everything. It is so intense and captivating. This series would be a awesome movie. I can not wait for the next book.

This is the second book in the series. I love the first book and wrote a detailed review. The second book is a great follow-up.it seems unreal to be chosen to be one of the young girls competing for the hand of the prince. When you sign up for the contest you think that's going to be a nice easy palace life and even if you don't win you get some time off work, good food and all the water you can drink. All these things are very rare and this dystopian universe.There are just a couple of problems though. First the resistance of stop the main character, Zea that all the royals are terrible people just out for themselves. Most of the other contestants have some Royal Blood so it's not so shocking to them. They also just don't want you eliminated from a competition, oh, they want you dead.Both books in the series so far are very quick reads, but you'll fall in love with the characters. You can't wait for the next installment!

Ahh.... picking up right where we left off in the first book of this series, once again, Zea-Mays' life is endangered as the Trials continue. Her position now more precarious than ever as she wrestles with her feelings for both Ryce Wintergreen, the handsome rebel who claims to care so much about her and the man in line for the throne of Phangloria, Prince Kevon, who Zea finds herself more attracted to day by day. Danger threatens her family if she makes the wrong choice.....Whenever I pick this book up I just can't seem to put it down. It has me fully invested in Zea's life and leaves me constantly wondering what will happen next. In my head there's a tug of war between wanting what I imagine will happen to actually finally come to pass and waiting for the next astonishing twist that leaves me marveling.Now to wait for the next piece of the story. Gahh! How can I encourage a writer to write faster? Send chocolate? Because I would absolutely do so if necessary!

The story line was good but it had a little too much violence in it for me. Unnecessary violence. I love a good royal story free of magic and weird characters which this book had none. Zea's character developed a little more. I thought the technology she got from the Amstraadi was pretty cool. It was more like elixers to give whatever she needed at the right time. I really disliked the queen. She was beyond any wicked queen I've ever read about. I was very surprised at the ending which left me hungry for book 3. I'm excited too see how things turn out.

Sometimes the 2nd book of a series can get boring, but this wasn't the case with this book. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat.I love the character development of Zea. In this book she finally starts becoming more sure of herself and feelings. I won't give away any of the story itself, but let's just say some of the situations this character finds herself in makes Hunger Games look like a walk in the park.The Queen is truly horrible and you really find more ways to hate her as she grabs for power. There were a few surprises that I didn't see coming, which is always refreshing.Overall excellent read.

I do like this book but at times I felt frustrated and I just wanted to stop reading. That was due to how chaotic the book is, nothing is in the main characters control. Nothing. The amount of backstabbing, treacherous behavior is kind of ridiculous. Too much packed in at one time its almost unbelievable. There isn't one part of the book that gives you a good feeling. The romance seems trivial, all this power/prestige of the prince yet he can do nothing. All this turmoil and hate for a girl who has no power, barely any means to fight. Way too over the top yet somehow she makes it through but doesnt at the same time. Not my favorite series at all or even a top ten contender, it feels mostly like a tragic story with multiple losses with a tiny, miniscule, barely there amount of romance. I honestly keep waiting for the main character to catch a break and it really doesn't come even though it is the second book in. I'm still waiting despite the attempted cliffhanger at the end. Not sure I'm intrigued enough to read the third book. I'm sure someone else dies though.

The first book in the series was enjoyable and had an interesting plot, the second book though seems to be slightly more muddled and too many attempts are made to surprise the reader with plot twists. It has made it hard to follow and confused the storyline.

Love this series. Buy, buy, buy them all.

This book was sooooo good! Kills me that I have to wait 4 months for the next one! Love all the action and plot twists. Kept me addicted to this series!
