Ikea White Bookcase 826.201126.1818

I mostly choose this bookshelf over others because it ended up being the right size for my room. I live in a cape cod house, which if you didn’t know means the rooms on the second floor have what’s considered half walls (I believe is what they are called) where the ceiling looks more like an attic and the ceiling is slanted. It looks cool and you wouldn’t think it’s a big deal but because the ceilings are slated you end up having very little wall space, which makes it very hard to find furniture that is short enough to not hit the ceiling.So long story short, I needed a new bookcase that could fit more books and either they were all too tall or not wide enough to do the job. This one, however, fit perfectly, even offering an extra shelf then my previous one had. I even measured to saw that I could fit two of these shelves against the wall if I felt I needed more room.The fact that they were IKEA made it better as I’ve never had any furniture from IKEA but heard they were good. My dad, who put the shelf together for me, said it fit together just about the same as any other self but to me it looked much more stylish and sturdier. He did comment on how he liked the fact that’s it was made out of real wood (not the fake wood that often brakes under a lot of weight) and how it had an indention in it on the back for wall edging so that you could push it right up against a wall. It also came with some extra hooks and screws so that you could screw it into the wall if wanted to avoid it falling over in case it ever got top heavy (like in the event a child decided to climb it, it wouldn’t fall over on top of them- which incidentally happened to my sister when she was smaller. She was fine though). Lots of bookshelves might have these small features but my family often ends up buying cheap ones from like Walmart for $30 so we don’t see these very much, so I figured I’d mention them anyway.Overall, a great bookshelf and an even greater price for an IKEA.

I ordered two bookcases. One was damaged during shipping. I realize the material quality isn't rated the highest, but in the future I will buy this type of item directly from the store.

Unit was small for price.

Extremely disappointed. This bookcase was damaged in multiple spots and the cam lock fittings are plastic and two of them broke as soon as I turned them.

Mostly organizing and displaying books.

super easy to put together (one woman, 30 mins max), sturdy, white is not bright, just slightly cream, but would go with white...it's great.
