I very very rarely need to weld cast iron and didn't want to buy a big box of these rods at the local welding supplier, so this is a good size and its from a long standing trusted welding company

Used these rods to repair a pair of cracked cast exhaust manifolds from a 02 Nissan Xterra (the manifolds are notorious for cracking on these engines). There were multiple cracks per manifold. I ground the cracks down to create a V shape channel and used these rods to fill them in. I went slow so the manifold didn't heat up quickly. I was able to lay down some really good welds with these rods and once done I left the manifolds to cool overnight wondering if I'd find a pile of cast sand the next morning. The manifolds held up just fine, they were reinstalled, heated/cooled dozens of times on the running engine and to this day are crack free.

Good rod . I got good penetration and not a whole lot of splatter . they came in a nice hard case that protected them and not a one had any cracks or missing coating.

Works good to plate cast iron to stick blue max. Pretty porous on it's own.
