Does not last. Early failures. The cheaper TrendNet and 10Gtek equivalents are better choices
I have dropped my previous rating from 5 to 1.Look at the reviews from people who have had this device for more than a few months. A lot of other reviewers are reporting this device stops working.. I had the same experience, after just a few months of use.The aluminum enclosure is too small and has no ventilation. It runs too hot and began to fail intermittently after a few months of use.My router started reporting “Ethernet disconnected” in the WAN settings, and of course the internet would go down. Nothing physical,y changed with the cable. This device overheating was the cause.I can no longer recommend this device.Old review.....Speed in my small urban house with the Home Hub 3000 router / modem from Bell Canada - terrible. At best 100 mbps from my 300 Mbps connection. WiFi much worse than my NetGear X6 R8000 nighthawk router. With this adapter, following the instructions in the Bell forum at dslreports I quickly direct connected the Bell Fibre to my router, and tossed the HH3000 in a drawer. I now get my full 300/100 mbps speed, and with the excellent WiFi on my high end router, I get this speed through most of my house, even on WiFi.

So far, so good!
UPDATED REVIEW : I have now switched to Gigabit Internet from Bell (FTTH) and can't get full Gigabit speed on my router. It may be my router, but I highly doubt it. I would have to test with another network device.Only had it installed for a day, but it was easy to install. I used it to replace the Bell HomeHub 3000 for me to be able to use my own router (Linksys WRT1900AC v1). Once I connected the SFP from Bell's fiber to it, I only needed to use PPPoE instead of DHCP on the WAN interface of my router, and assign the WAN interface to VLAN ID 35, with tagging.

Died in less than a year. Before it worked perfectly with bell Canada fiber to the home.
Updated 3/19, 2019.I bought this device on April 13, 2018. It worked really well with my Bell fiber internet, coupled with my pfsense. However, on March 16th, 2019, the device stopped working. It would power on, cycle online the LAn and Fiber connections, and the lights would turn on. Seconds later both the LAN and Fiber would go offline and the lights would turn off (Power light remained on). Connections were lost and network was down.I've contacted TrendNet support and they responded saying the following.--------------------------------------------------------------------------3/18/2019 11:55:53 AMJohnny H.(Technical Support Rep) Hello,We apologize for the inconvenience. The TFC-GSFP is a non configurable device. It sounds like it could be a hardware issue with the unit. To rule out a hardware issue you can submit an RMA request for warranty services. To submit an RMA request go to www.trendnet.com/rma. The case ID will be this ticket number.--------------------------------------------------------------------------I started going through the RMA process but this is in the Terms and Conditions:---------------------------------------------------------------------------TRENDNET WARRANTY REPAIR POLICY- Returns must be shipped freight prepaid and insured. TRENDnet is not responsible for returns lost during the shipping process. TRENDnet strongly recommend that you ship the package via carriers with a tracking record and require signature. For International RMA services the customer will also be responsible for return freight charges.- TRENDnet requires pre-authorization for the return of all products. Products not authorized for return shall be sent back to you at your expense. TRENDnet will not be liable for any loss of or damage to unauthorized return items.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------So basically I'd need to pay $20 each way to, maybe, warranty a $45 device that dies in less than a year. (not including my time and downtime to my service)
