Right dosage, who knows?
The problem with supplements in general is that they are unregulated, and it is hard to find a trustworthy company with strict quality controls. Melatonin supplements, specifically, tend to fare poorly in independent tests, which often show irregularity in dosing and contamination with dangerous ingredients.I don't have access to lab equipment to test, so all I can say about this supplement is that it feels, subjectively, way stronger than the claimed 300 mcg. I suspect that this company's measurement is imprecise.I would welcome the recommendation of a company that provides "pharmaceutical-grade" 300 mcg melatonin with independently tested and verified controls on dosing.

A lifelong insomniac finally sleeps through the night
So I've heard on and off that melatonin can improve sleep habits, I tired it a few years back at a much higher dosage and it didn't help at all! Recently I read that 300 mcg of melatonin is the recommend dose and anything over that is excessive and can have adverse affects. So I decided to try again and for the first time since I was maybe 9 years old I'm sleeping through the night, and I feel my body winding down at around 9pm instead of 4 am in the morning! As a personal thought experiment I stopped taking the melatonin for a week and my insomnia came back with a vengeance, I was getting 4 hours of sleep if I was lucky and it was all tossing and turning and very light. So I'm officially going to be a lifelong user and to ensure my body doesn't build a dependency I make sure to skip it on the weekends.

If you’re still taking 1mg, 3mg or 5mg melatonin.. you’re doing it wrong!!
This is quite possibly the BEST melatonin on the market. For the simple fact that it’s a low dose, that is actually effective. If you’re still taking 1mg, 3mg or 5mg melatonin.. you’re doing it wrong. No wonder you’re groggy when you’re waking up! You’re overdosing the melatonin. I take this 60-90 minutes prior to getting into bed and I slowly fall asleep. It’s not like you’re extremely lethargic and knock out quickly. It’s more of a slow, calming process. I feel like I’m a normal person going to sleep rather than someone who can’t shut off their mind and suffers from sleep issues. In the morning, when I wake up, I’m up. I don’t feel groggy or like I want to go back to sleep. It’s simply amazing. I had a cold for the past few weeks and I was taking NyQuil. That will knock you out hard and make it difficult to get up in the morning. I experienced the same thing with Unisom.I love this product. Will definitely buy again. A million times over.

Great dose and brand -- but melatonin is not for me.
Love that there is a 300 mcg dose available, as that is the right physiological dose -- most are way too strong. And I absolutely trust the LifeExtension brand. However, for me, it turns out I just can't handle melatonin. On the 2nd night, it gave me horrible anxiety and restless legs! After a bit of research, it turns out melatonin can deplete dopamine in the brain, so my symptoms were just a direct result of lowered dopamine levels. It evened out after 3 days of not taking any, but if you might be sensitive like this, please be careful.Still, if you do well with melatonin, this is a great one to get!

Sixty percent of the time it works every time :)I think it was MIT that did a study showing 0.3 mg or 3mcg is optimal dosage. That's why I got this, and it's hard to find in stores. I take this 1-2x/week, around 1.5-2 hrs before bedtime and 12 hours before I want to get up. I feel sleepy at the right time, and alert when I wake up (not groggy). So happy with this product.Melatonin is a powerful antioxidant, and some doctors at the frontlines of coronavirus/covid recommend taking melatonin as part of temporary, whole treatment plan under supervised care. I also have melatonin in 12mg (super duper high dose) for when I get a viral infection for this reason. The last virus I contracted lasted only 4 days, taking safe amounts of vitamin c (6-9g/day) and melatonin (6-9mg/day) for the duration. I also took elderberry and zinc.So I use the 0.3mg bottle when I'm feeling a little run-down and need an immune boost and deep sleep, and it works great!
