Hattie's character was a true delight!
A great conclusion to the Ladies of Devon series, I really loved Hattie's character so much. Hattie had such a fun and unique personality that really just added to this story, providing a spark of comedy and heart. I thought it was adorable the way her personality allowed Bentley to take a chance and open his life and heart up. Their friendship and romance were super sweet. I didn't want to put this book down, I was intrigued with Bentley's past and even when I somewhat guessed his backstory, it was still really fun to discover and kept me turning pages. This was a cute, clean Regency romance and I loved the cameos of the other ladies of Devon. Definitely a book I recommend.

Sweet historical romance!
The Recluse of Wolfeton House is the last book in Kasey Stockton's Ladies of Devon series. Hattie is a little tired of waiting for her true love to come. However, she is certain that when fate brings him, it will be perfect. Even when her sister-in-law comes to visit with the express purpose of helping her find a husband, Hattie is determined to not force fate. The Duke of Bentley has established his life far from Society in relative seclusion and deep privacy. He understands that it is necessary to protect his family's name. When his neighbor breaks into his life with her charm and shared interest in painting, he agrees to give her art lessons in exchange for her secret keeping. However, as their meetings continue, Bentley must decide if his privacy is worth losing the woman he loves. This was a super cute book! I got through half of it in one night, staying up much too late reading. Hattie was such a fun character. I really liked how responsible she was, doing her best to take care of her father and her home. Even with her sister-in-law, she tried to be a good hostess. I appreciated her kindness and how honest she was. She and Bentley were really cute! They just seemed to enjoy one another's company and be able to talk to one another. Bentley was also very sweet. He was holding onto some secrets and anger that fueled his seclusion. It was sad to see the hurt that he had. It was also sweet to see the trust that he was able to put in Hattie. Their love story felt very well-paced, nothing rushed. Both Hattie and Bentley were realizing truths about themselves and where they were in life. They had to grow a little before they could truly be together. This was such a cute book and a pleasure to read! I would recommend it to those who enjoy sweet clean romances, especially if you also like historical fiction! There are also other books in the Ladies of Devon series that you can check out, though this book can be read as a stand-alone.I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.

Delightful and Charming!!! Going on my favorite's shelf!
I love when I pick up a book and am completely pulled into. When the characters are just delightful and charming. When the setting is described in such a way as to have me feel as if I am right there alongside the characters. When I laugh, cry and cheer for the happy ever after to come. This book definitely had all of those components for me. I loved it!!! My only complaint is that it ended. Lol! But that really isn't a complaint because I was able to see the resolution of Hattie's journey and having Bentley be there throughout her journey and especially at the finish was perfection. You don't need to have read the previous books in this series as the author does a nice job giving the reader enough relevant info for what we need to know about our heroine. I haven't read the first two books yet and have only read, The Widow of Falbrooke Court. Which was a great story as well. Both that book and this one start the same way, only from different characters point of view. Which I loved reading both openings. Hattie just needs to find her fox, which of course brings about lots of fun in both books, but especially this one. I loved how the author used Hattie's search for the elusive fox throughout the book. I smiled and giggled several times over her antics.I really want to go back and read the first two books and see more of Hattie's character because she was just delightful. I loved her sass and strength. She has some frustrations throughout this book and I really liked how the author wrote her character growth in regards to those frustrations as well as just her character in general. And some of my absolute favorite parts of this book...any scene with Hattie and Bentley in them. Seriously loved these two together. They really did have me laughing and sighing. The banter and the budding friendship. The frustrations. The different encounters and planned and unplanned meetings. The scheming of family and others and how that played into their relationship. The chicken. The window. The cat. Oh, how I thoroughly enjoyed this book.If you can't tell, I highly recommend reading this one. Like, a lot! ;-)Content: Clean and delightful.I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.Happy Reading!!!
