Outstanding
It took 3 volumes,, but we finally got to see Thorliff’s dreams ulfilled,,,,and I am hopeful for more books to come about this wonderful family and community.I would liked to have given this book a 5 star rating, for the talents of Lauraine shined in this book as always,,,but I am dismayed at high cost of these last 2 books and the fact she stretched one story into 3 books,,,,then left this one as a virtual cliff hanger also. The rest of the Red River series was so complete and fleshed out on every book in the series, affordable, and each one filled with new characters and family joining the community. These last three books left me wanting more, and my pocketbook pinching me. I hope this is not a messenger of the future of Snelling’s books, for I cannot afford to continue if it is😔

Love This Series
I love the inspirational thread that runs through this author’s writing. It touches the depths of my heart. I love the historical aspect. I love the good stories. I feel as though I am right there living the dreams and adventures, as well as the heartbreak and tragedies. I have been brought near to tears many times, at times tears of joy and sometimes of sadness.

Lauraine Snelling: Best Author I've Ever Read!
My husband, looking for more Westerns, actually found the Red River series, read them and recommended them to me. You will be right there in the book's action, feeling the joy and sorrow of these characters. I've laughed, and cried right along with the people in these stories. I'm on the third series in the saga of these pioneers of North Dakota and will read all the books this woman has written. She's one of the best author's I've ever read, and you can trust that her books will inspire you, through the characters faith, to a greater faith in God, yourself. Amazing books, and Lauraine Snelling must be an amazing lady to be given such a gift of writing. Thank you Miss Lauraine for your prolific writings, and I'm so grateful my husband found, and shared your books with me.

Great Read!
The third book in the Return to Red River series is every bit as good as the first two. I find myself especially invested in this series because my nephew is a Saint Olaf alumni. Furthermore, my home town and area is close to the Red River valley, and in 2002 this county survived a massive flood. Our flood took no lives, but took many homes and businesses. Like in the novel, hard working Minnesotans banned together to assure everyone was safe, fed and sheltered, and later labored to clean up and pick up the pieces. This is the way of small town America, then and now.

Return to RedRiver series
I highly recommend Return to Red River series to all who love reading. After reading Book 1 I just had to read book 2 & 3. Each book has a good Christian message throughout without being overboard. Very interesting in how the new immigrants set up their homesteads and were willing to help each other. Thank you Lauraine Snelling, may God bless.

Red River
I've read all 9 the Red River books, 6 North of the Red River and 3 Return to the Red River. As hard as life was in book one, it is the faith of the community that I find missing, sometimes even in churches. But I try to bring that community wherever I go. So many lessons to learn day by day.

Enjoyed this one
I enjoyed the conclusion to Thorliff's portion of the story. Guess I'll be going on to finishing up w/the girls. All in all the Entire series from Book one of Red River Series has been an interesting series. I think if you are into the Historical Fictions type of books you will enjoy this series. To me it is an easy flowing book - nothing really dramatic - but very well developed characters and story line and the history portion of the books are great. I learned a lot about that time period and location during the period of immagration to United States.

Boring...
Being of Norwegian descent, I was immediately interested in this series. This series is supposed to depict the lives of the Norwegian settlers, but OMG, it is such a boring read!!! I had to force myself through the first series, but only because I spent good money buying it. It didn't captivate my attention, nor was I engrossed in the characters and their relationships. Lauraine Snelling just isn't my style of writing.
