The perfect beginners guide
This book covers all the basic bases and helps to give a helpful insight into Project Management as a field of interest. Unlike boring. Monotone textbooks that just blurb our facts, this book is more conversational, knter sting and has some great examples for you to engage with. Unlike other textbooks where it is easy to get distracted, this book (if you are interested in project management) will help educate you but also keep your attention. The writing within this books is of a medium level - it is not overly complicated yet at the same time it is not patronising. I am used to some quite complex books on some rather difficult subjects and worried this might be a bit simple,as I have never read a 'For Dummies' book before but I was pleasantly surprised. This book will be good for people with no experience in project management, without further education, but will also be equally suitable for people of higher education looking for a useful project management book that will enhance their understanding. This book does not just reel off facts and figures, it gives you actual real life examples that are easy to relate to and understand.Highly recommend for anyone like myself who has just embarked on a career change.

No cheat sheet
This is a good little book. I bought it on Kindle. Mind you, there is nothing more annoying than offering something ( in this case the book offered what it called a cheat sheet which I imagined was a summary sheet) and then clicking on and getting a message saying oops not available. Better not to say that something potentially useful is there when it isn't. Frustrating. Shame really as it is good otherwise.

A great introduction to a key professional skill
I've used this book as a general guideline for managing projects in work and in my personal life. I'm used to academic textbooks, but I think every consumer benefits from the clear language used in this book, along with the useful illustrations and anecdotal examples quoted throughout.Excellent for any beginner to project management, and I dare say, if you learned this book inside out, with a little more technical wording, you could pass the PRINCE2 assessments.

An excellent gift for a newborn
My neighbour's wife recently gave birth, and it was expected that I purchase a gift of some kind to welcome the child into the world. He's three weeks old, but I have a feeling he'll really like this book when he starts to read.

Useful if you have PM experience
I think anyone new to project management will this a bit hard going as the print is quite small and there is a lot of information and detail on each page making it a bit busy to digest.

Overal good
I bought this book for a person that has asked to shadow me in being a project manager and this is there introduction reading before we start the training.having used this book myself before doing the prince 2 qualifications I found that a lot of the theory's and practices in this book are on the money and are accurate.as an introduction to the world of Project management it provides the information in an easy to understand format with plenty of graphics and case studies so that you can understand why to do something not only that you have to do it.if you are thinking of becoming a project manager or if you are considering the Price 2 but want to make sure that you are doing the right move then this is a great book to read before you make the jump.

A good introduction to project management and its principles.
For those who are looking for a relatively easy, painless ramp into project management and its basics, this is a solid introduction. As with all the Dummies series, it builds bit by bit on previous knowledge, introducing concepts in new chapters for the most part. I bought this book for a new employee who wanted to get into the project management field, and she reports it to be a solid guide into the PM world, although it only covers basics. It was rated by her much higher than some on-line courses she tried, as well as a couple of competing books. As a good introduction to project management, this is recommended, but keep in mind it scratches the surface and is no replacement for practice.

Project Management For Dummies is for smart people who work in groups to accomplish common goals.
I took many Project Management classes in the course of earning my baccalaureate degree. I have been working in the high tech IT field for over 20 years and 15 years ago, I could handle most of a company's IT needs by myself. This simply isn't true anymore. There are too many variables in play and subject matter experts like Security Specialists, Web Developers, and Network Infrastructure experts like me all have to work together in cross-functional teams to continue to provide for the needs of the businesses we support. IT is now direct customer assistance or project work. This has proven to be true time and time again. In search of increasing my value, I am pursuing PMP Certification through PMI.org. Reading through the PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge) can get confusing at times. The "For Dummies" books are for smart people who really want to understand the material. Project Management for Dummies provides the examples and insights that help me commit the concepts to my memory.
