Eddie Falco is amazing in this drama. Nurse Jackie’s character draws you in - he hate her, you pity her, you laugh with her, you root for her. All the great components of a successful show.

I binge watched Nurse Jackie in 2016 and needed to do it again. Despite having to pay as this was not free on prime TV it’s well worth it to me. This is such a great show that keeps you watching! I wish they had made more seasons.

Edie Falco is fantastic viewing. Jackie is a stressed nurse, stressed mom, and a good person...who starts with pain patches for true pain. Her husband seems nice initially, but it quickly becomes clear that he's a huge pain in her a**.Jackie is juggling so many life stressors while performing her demanding job. Even if you don't agree with her (her addiction worsens as time progresses) the writing, acting, and cast of this series are amazing! I've watched the series over and over, and like Sopranos, it gets better each time. Highly recommend!

It is suspenseful yet predictable in some ways, comical and emotional. Good watch!

Nurse Jackie is the kind of person you love to hate. She is a caring nurse, going above and beyond (sometimes illegally) to care for her patients. In a way, I hate her. In a way, I love her.Its a frustrating show, in that regard.

I can't beleive that no one has mentioned this yet, or maybe I am just really a sick, evil person and I should get help now, but for me the appeal of Nurse Jackie is that it is a Seinfeldian Revenge show. Most revenge flicks are epic, when someone completely destroys your life or takes away everything that gave your life meaning, like Count of Monte Cristo or Kill Bill.But I say Nurse Jackie's revenge is Seinfeldian because we're talking about little daily trials and tribulations that real people are expected to just deal with if you are to remain in civil society. I mean, have you noticed that she is essentially giving us the finger - but with a syringe instead of her middle finger? If not, don't feel bad - it took me longer than I care to admit to see it.Nurse Jackie's life motto seems to be: Don't Get Mad; Get Even. While that is not really a good way to live, it is entertaining AS HELL to watch a character be on television.I will use an example and not tell you which patient so as not to spoil, but on the episode that won me over, on her way home she encounters a person that reminds her of her patient that just died. She looks at him very sincerely and says "Be Careful." He looks at her like "Who do you think you are, my mother?" and says "F- you!" She doesn't even blink, just kneels down and does something that pretty much ensures that he will either be having an accident of his own, or just a really rotten evening. I mean she doesn't even think about it!Am I a bad person because I thought that was freakin' hilarious? Possibly. But one of the first things she says on the show is a prayer - and I guess it would be the show's motto - "God, make me good; but not yet." It TELLS you that she is in no way supposed to be a role model, or an example of a typical emergency-room nurse. I imagine she is as typical a nurse as Nancy Botwin is a typical suburban single mother.

Très très bonne série médicale avec une Edie Falco toujours aussi irrésistible et vraiment très drole, à vite voir ou revoir!!!

How does Nurse Jackie cope? It is such a full life. At home, a devoted husband and two little girls. At the hectic New York hospital, she the rock on whom colleagues lean. Every new day is a challenge. Her secret is an addiction to drugs, intake increasing as crises multiply....As Nurse Jackie, Edie Falco is superb (she who so impressed as mobster Tony Soprano's wife). Falco knows the power of stillness, how so much can be portrayed by just a look, a gesture. (All the while her scripts were consequently pared down, so many words not needed.)Deliberately the series focuses on nurses - they the front line of hospital care, the faces most seen by patients at often the most stressful time of their life. Jackie's concern is genuine, she instinctively knowing what best to say, what best to do. (Obnoxious patients receive rather less sympathy, she with ways and means of ensuring they show respect.)Rich characterization abounds with formidable administrator Gloria; gay, sensible Mohammad; Eddie, dispenser of pills (etc.); garrulous and bumbling student Zoey; handsome Dr. Cooper - he the love of his life.Fine writing and acting lift the series into a high league. Underlying it all is a genuine affection for the people portrayed. Take, for example, episode six. A former colleague, now with terminal cancer, comes in to die - hoping the process can be speeded. So easily this could have been mawkish, but warmth and good humour make it uplifting and memorable.In view of such praise, my first reaction to the pilot may surprise. Less than half way through it was set aside - the strong language, raunchy scenes, etc. so unexpected. Only when revisiting a few weeks later, was I won over - better able to appreciate its worth.12 episodes, several commentaries, interesting bonuses.Recommended. (Unlike me, do not be put off by what you first see.)

In gewisser Weise ist der Serie "Nurse Jackie" anzumerken das sie um Edie Falco (bekannt aus "The Sopranos" und aus "OZ") herum geschrieben wurde, da sie total im Mittelpunkt steht und allen weiteren (und ebenfalls guten und interessanten) Charakteren die Show stiehlt.Edie Falco spielt eine Krankenschwester eines Emergency Rooms in New York. Sie führt ein Doppelleben (das kennen wir aus diversen neuen, erfolgreichen und guten amerikanischen Serien...) da sie zu Hause einen Mann und zwei kleine Töchter hat, auf der Arbeit im Krankenhaus aber eine Liaison teilt mit dem Mann der die Medikamente verwaltet und Jackie sehr freigiebig ihre tägliche Ration an stimmungverändernden Substanzen zuschustert. Diese sind zwar legal, aber das Verhalten ist dennoch fragwürdig und nicht legal da diese Pillen im Grunde genommen geklaut werden, Jackie ständig "drauf" ist (um den Streß zu bewältigen den ihr Arbeitsalltag sowie ihr Doppelleben mit sich bringt) und die Beziehung der Beiden von diesem Verhalten "überschattet" wird.Jackie ist ein zwiespältiger Charakter. Es ist einfach, sie zu mögen da sie viel Gutes tut und durch einige Tugenden wie Fleiß, Durchsetzungsvermögen, Empathie und Klugheit auffällt, aber es ist gleichzeitig schwierig sie zu mögen da sie diese an und für sich guten Eigenschaften auch manipulativ, egoistisch oder skrupellos einsetzen kann. Unterm Strich gewinnt aber die Sympathie für sie.Doch auch die anderen Charaktere haben es in sich: der neue Arzt Dr. Fitch ist ein Exzentriker und ein Grabscher, die neue Studentin Zoey hängt sich viel mehr an Jackie ran als es dieser lieb ist, Jackies beste Freundin Dr. Eleanor ist sehr "bitchy" und wenn die beiden zum Mittagessen gehen wirkt die Serie wie eine Mischung aus "Sex and the city" und vor allem "Absolutely Fabulous". Jackies Tochter Ruby fällt in der Schule durch Ängste und eine extrem negative Weltsicht auf (so malt sie zum Beispiel im Kunstunterricht ein Bild von Florida welches nur aus grauen und schwarzen Farben besteht und wo keine Sonne scheint... :o) und dann gibt es noch den von Jackie sehr gemochten schwulen Kollegen Mohammed der leider nur in der ersten Staffel dabei ist sowie die Chefin Alkalitus vor der Jackie ihre Süchte (und nicht nur die!) verbergen muss.Was vor allem positiv an der Serie auffällt ist die hohe Gag-Dichte, die gut plazierten Drama-Momente, die interessante Einführung und Entwicklung der Charaktere sowie vor allem das unglaublich hohe Tempo, mit der die Serie vorangeht. Zuschauerin und Zuschauer werden binnen kürzester Zeit mit sehr vielen "Informationen" beschossen - so ist es ganz wichtig ständig gut aufzupassen um alles mitzubekommen, was Handlung, Hintergründe, Gags und Verlauf angeht - da ist nix drin mit mal kurz in die Küche gehen um ein neues Getränk zu holen etc. ;o)Die zweite Staffel erscheint in UK bereits im April 2011 und in den Staaten startet zeitgleich die dritte Staffel auf dem immer besser und interessanter werdenden Sender Showtime.Es gibt übrigens diverse interessante Bonus-Features auf den 3 DVDs, unter anderem 4 Audio-Kommentare (die leider - im Gegensatz zu den einzelnen Episoden) nicht auf englisch untertitel sind, sowie diverse Features wie die realen lustigen Erlebnisse von Krankenschwestern und -pflegern in Interviews, einige Interviews mit den Darstellern und Regisseuren usw.Bemerkenswert finde ich noch das der interessante Schauspieler Steve Buscemi (der auch schon bei "The Sopranos" mal im Regiestuhl saß) bei "Nurse Jackie" gleich bei VIER Folgen der ersten Staffel Regie führte!Ich habe die erste Staffel in nur 3 Tagen angeschaut (normalerweise brauche ich für die Staffel einer Serie ungefähr 2 Wochen - wenn sie mir gut gefällt...) und ich kann es kaum erwarten die zweite (und die dritte...) Staffel zu sehen...

NYマンハッタン。とある病院が舞台という設定の医療コメディドラマ。ブラックな笑いとセンスがちりばめられたシリアスタッチのコメディドラマ、高品質な作品という印象です。生と死やドラッグ ゲイやホームレスなどが描かれ、話が重くなりそうなところですが、実際は笑える箇所満載です。コメディ好きな大人向けの作品だと思います。個人的には実力派俳優達の演技とアンサンブルが楽しめて嬉しかったです。そもそも主演がEDIE FALCOなのでこの作品を観たのですが、前作SOPRANOSの奥様役だったことを微塵も感じさせない別人になっていて凄いです。ドクター役のEVE BESTがとにかくいい味をだしています。シーズン1は日本盤が出されています。インポート盤はリージョンフリーのDVDプレイヤーが必要です。英語字幕付いています。
