Case Studies for application of mentoring skills
Easy but relevant read; provides good reviews of actual mentors and their experiences. Useful case studies included also.

Terrible. Filled with lofty stories and general ideas, without anything concrete or useful in the entire book.
This book is horrible. It describes lofty "tensions" that mentors experience transitioning from teacher to mentor, but never provides anything meaningful in the entire book. It will address working in challenging contexts and experiences of mentors working in difficult schools, but doesn't ever provide any techniques, recommendations or specific strategies. In one chapter, the book described a mentor who avoided the administration unless they had candy or chocolate to break the ice. How ridiculous...The book has interesting case studies to explore how you might respond in given situations, but fails to provide the tools to know what a mentor should or should not be doing.
