A good follow up
A nice 2nd outing for Mrs McClure and her resident ghost, and in this 2nd volume they figure out a way he can leave the premises - allowing for more interest in future books.

The Ghost & The Dead Deb - Pen and Jack sally forth once more!
The second in the Haunted Bookshop series by Alice Kimberly (Cleo Coyle's nom de plume) and just as addictive as the first novel in the series, The Ghost and Mrs McClure.Pen's bad fairy strikes again, when she invites Angel Stark, the kind of celebrity more known for being famous for being famous rather than any discernable talent, to a reading at the McClure bookshop, Buy The Book. Angel is pushing her tell all memoir of the murder of one of her high living set of young partiers, but there are a lot of people not happy about it. The murder was never solved, and while Angel hints at her choice of murderer, its more implied than actually stated. When she is nearly run down by a mysterious black car, and saved by Pen's employee's boyfriend, that's just the start of Pen's woes. For Angel disappears into the night with her buff saviour - leaving an annoyed publisher, a heartbroken girlfriend, and trouble in her wake. When Angel's body then reappears up at the local beauty spot by the Finch's upmarket B&B, the young man is instantly arrested - for it turns out he was not only present when the celeb's murder took place, but was also arrested, charged and then released for lack of evidence of the killing.Pen can't believe he'd be capable of such a terrible thing - but Jack, her own personal ghost, is determined to show her things aren't always as they seem. A nice twist in this story is the discovery of a Buffalo nickel from Jack's old case files (now with Pen) which allows Jack to travel with the coin. This means Pen can take Jack on her investigations outside of the bookshop - a comfort for her, and a revelation for Jack.A worthy second installment to the series - and one of my favourite pairings of sleuths!
