L-Carnitine and the Heart

Lowered CAC score from 485 to 370 in 1year!
I followed Steve Sinatra’s books on supplement recommendations for a year, and gave up carbs and drinking. The results are almost unheard of! Dropped 30 lbs, and probably added a decade or two to my life expectancy. I believe I’ll be taking CoQ10, L-Carnetine, Fish Oil, baby aspirin, and a quality (liquid) multi-vitamin along with the Keto diet and Pro-biotic foods-while I enjoy life without any meds or side effects. Thanks Dr. Sinatra! What a beautiful legacy you left.

Quick and Easy life-saver
It is customary that an author is asked to fill 250 pages worth of content for a paperback. Sometimes, the author manages to convince the publisher to agree for something like 200 pages. At other times, if he/she is well established, he/she can even fill up the pages with "blanks", like de Bono did in "Simplicity".But this book is 49 pages (leaving out the table of contents, references, index, etc.) of goodness. And I love it.This book has a "life-saving" message about benefits of L-Carnitine based supplementation program. Some important details are as follows:* Inside every cell in our body, there are components called mitochondria; heart cells have three to ten times more mitochondria than cells from other parts of the body* You can think of mitochondria as a cell's power plants.* Mitochondria start failing with aging. Failure in the energy production mechanism leads to many degenerative diseases.* L-Carnitine helps in mitochondrial energy production by transporting free fatty acids (fuel) into them* L-Carnitine also seem to assist in removing the spent fuel from mitochondria.* Once the fuel is inside the mitochondria, other supplements like Coenzyme Q10 (a vitamin like substance), minerals, etc. help in burning the fuel.* Supplementing L-Carnitine, along with Q10 and few other minerals/vitamins (a) improve the condition of heart muscles, (b) reduce cholesterol and triglyceride, (c) increase the general energy levels and (d) more.I read this book several months ago and started a supplementation program similar to the one recommended in this book. Within a month of starting the program, my triglyceride level had dropped to less than half (from very high pre-treatment levels). I expect that the levels to further go down (and, perhaps, normalize) in the next two months. The concepts in this book are now widely accepted by many doctors world over. None of these recommendations can produce any harm (provided, your supplements are not contaminated). Given these, it is very sad indeed that vast majority of the suffering public is unaware and respected press keeps talking the supplementation programs down.

most interesting read on taking care of the 'ticker'
This book provides so much good advice on care of the heart I feel like I should keep it in full view permanently. Dr. Sinatra appeared to be speaking directly to me...loved the clearly written explanations and reasons for doing or most importantly NOT DOING this or that when it comes to wise heart care. Thank you for the great reference! You will not soon forget the content of this book. Keep it in the kitchen where you can easily access it. The science behind the content is most impressive! One of the best books on heart care. This book tells it like it is and takes on many of the decisions one must come to grips with when trying to do the right thing to prevent heart trouble. It gives the reader some well researched 'ammunition' when conferring with your own physician.

A short and informative highly worthwhile read
This is an informative to the point book that tells me what I need to know on the subject, without wasting my time to read the same thing repeated over a dozen times in order to make a "full length book." It's amazing nowadays how badly some books are edited, with authors believing they need to produce a massive tome before people will buy it. This book offers clear explanations about why L-Carnitine and CoQ10 work together, relevant studies, best types of each supplement, and recommended dosages, all in a book you can read in an evening. I would rather pay people to succinctly provide me valuable information, and that's exactly what this book does. Thank you!

Everyone over 40 needs this book
Drs. Stephen and Jan Sinatra lead the pack in cardiologists with the patient's best interests at heart - pun intended! They have done excellent research and exhibt a progressive attitude regarding the use of replenishing the body's own elements, which diminish with age, for reinforcing our natural bio-stasis. They explain why we develop deficiencies in essential amino acids, the consequences, and what to do about it. I have taken the advice in the section on Carnitine and Coenzyme Q!10 here in full, and the benefits are undeniable. If you take prescription drugs for any cardiac or circulatory condition, you need to be informed! You can read this in a couple of short sittings.

Outstanding - Remarkable in every way!
It's a must for any person in a well-being state or with a medical condition. I myself started by following this advices as they have shown to be not known side effects. Getting know how from physicians like Stephen Sinatra for this price and the knowledge he transmits, in the simple way that he does, it's simply priceless! I would not hesitate to of course recommend this reading to everyone. But please spread this information like wild fire! It's a must to all living human kind.

EXCELLENT "MYTH" COMPANION
As was the case with my experience of "The Great Cholesterol Myth," This book is a MUST. Dr. Sinatra's explication as to the importance of L-Carnitine in comination with CoQ10 was information way over due for heart patients. For most of us, there is a dearth of reliable reasons WHY we should follow one regemin or another, and/or why we should NOT.In typical fashion, Dr. Sinatra presents the infomation and supporting science that leaves very little, or no room for rebuttal.

Coronary heart disease most of us are at risk
This book is an interesting book and I would recommend it.It gives a great amount of information about how you can prevent heart disease and gives a little information about CoQ10 as well as L-Carnitine.Inflammation is the big problem in respect of heart disease and yet most of you will think high blood cholesterol levels are the killer. Well no actually, if you think this then I suggest you read more information about inflammation and heart disease. If you have diagnal lines across the lobe of one or both your ears, this CAN be a sign of heart disease and you should see your Dr for investigations. Heart disease can be a silent killer, since you may suffer no symptoms until you suffer a major heart attack. This is what happened to my very fit and 'healthy' uncle, never ill, he died on the golf course of a major heart attack aged 52yrs, approximately 30yrs ago. He would never eat butter since margarine was being promoted as a much healthier alternative; we know better today that these hydrogenated fats are killers. Our western diet and lifestyle is mainly to blame for our high risk of heart disease. Heart attacks were rarely seen until the turn of the 20th Century and became more evident in the 1940's, but never more so until the 70's up to now. Statin drugs were meant to be the cure all drug for heart disease and in the 30yrs of use, the mortaility rates due to heart disease has not fallen! Interestingly they are the first billion dollar drug ever and now bring in tens of billion dollars each year for the drug companies. So who do they benefit I wonder?Well for sure you could benefit by reading this book, whoever you are, since your life will be touched by heart disease, be it your mother, your brother, your son, you will know someone who will suffer or die from heart disease and it may be you. Read this little book and it will take you on a trail of further exploration.

HEART PROBLEMS? - THEN READ THIS BOOK..
Important information about how your heart works from someone who really knows what he's talking about, and how L-carnitine and CoQ10 taken together can do more for your heart than all the medications the drug companies want you to take, which do not address the real underlying cause of heart problems, just treat the symptoms.
