Kelly Jones has produced some truly enjoyable short stories, particularly the Evel Knievel story, which is from the point of view of a 10-year-old boy. I witnessed the ill-fated jump and represented Evel in the some of the subsequent litigation that the jump spawned. Ms. Jones provides an accurate portrayal of the atmosphere surrounding the event and the essence of the flawed showman. There is a lot to like about the other short stories in her latest book. This is not my usual reading fare, but after reading and greatly appreciating her 2011 novel, The Woman Who Heard Color, I have read everything written by Ms. Jones. Her short story book contains the first chapter of a new novel that is coming out early next year and I intend on getting my hands on that when it is released.

Great summer read!! The Evel Knievel story is a wonderful "step back" to carefree days growing up in a small town, the wonders of childhood, and life's lessons learned.
