Good Quality Finch Feeder
The birds aren't coming to this new feeder yet. It seems to be taking a while for them to figure out how to eat from the small holes. We have only seen a couple birds eat from this so far. Hopefully more will begin to use it.

Nice feeder. Has good weight when empty. Might need feeder baffle to prevent mold from rain.
Phoenix area. One found it in a day. Score. A European variety.I don't know if he's eaten from it yet since the little guy likes the hummingbird feeder better so far. As it does the Gila woodpecker who dwarfs it.The hummingbird feeder is just a little 8 ounce one, best design, fill to the top easily, cheap, small and can be cleaned easily. They need to be cleaned once a week minimum AND I NEVER use any soap when cleaning hummingbird feeders. I get a high concentration white vinegar available through Amazon. No soap for hummingbirds. No honey for babies !!! Can cause SIDS

Very high quality but….
This is a very well made finch feeder. However it does have one design problem which is why I gave it 4 stars. The bottom perches each have a feed hole about 2 inches above the perch and one right above the perch. The problem is that no bird can possibly reach down next to its feet. So the seed below those 2inch high holes can’t be used. I was able to modify it by adding a hole about 2 inches below the top perches just above the bottom of the seed. Gold Finches can swing upside down and eat the seed down to the bottom. Some other small birds learn that behavior from watching them. Problem solved. And it’s fun to watch.

We Have Gone from 2 Goldfinches to 6 in an area that rarely sees Goldfinches
We are so glad we got this feeder! We have gone from 2 goldfinches to 6 (maybe 8). We live in Columbia SC and we rarely see goldfinches, but last winter (2021) 2 came and in the spring mated. We had 2 more and lately we have seen more. I think this small feeder kept clean and full of good thistle has made the birds take up residence here! We are delighted!

Sturdy, Functional & NO annoying sticker
I received this finch feeder on 3/22/2020 and it did not have a "hard to remove" sticker on the plastic tube as one reviewer claimed. The label was a paper wrap and easy to tear off and remove. It is a sturdy feeder with a metal lid, a metal base and metal perch poles/rods. I am looking forward to getting some finches in my back yard. Droll Yankees products are worth the price.

Holes are near invisible for Birds to locate
I bought these as in the wintertime, not nearly as many birds visit the finch feeders that I have from Droll Yankess. They hold a lot of seed, and spoils too quickly as the birds do not go through it as quickly.I purchased these because they were much shorter, and the birds should be able to go through this within about 2 days. The only problem the holes where the birds are supposed to feed, are so small, the birds cannot locate them. I have watched birds sit on the perch, and look around trying to locate the holes and fly away or try another of the perches. I understand that the holes are big enough for the finch blend bird seed, or Thistle seed, but the birds need to be able to locate the holes. I would suggest, maybe putting some type of bright colored sticker around the holes, or a plastic or metal ring around the holes. Something so that the birds can visualize where and how to get the seed. They are made of quality material, and are quite sturdy. They are somewhat easy to clean, but near impossible to dry. I would also recommend to Droll Yankees to have breathing holes in the bottom of the unit so that moisture does not build up inside. the 2 tiny weep holes on the sides are inadequate.

Good product; a little pricey. Item arrived from vendor well within times promised
We've been buying DY feeders for years. We appreciate that they are made in America--so we will continue buying them even though they are a little pricey compared to the Asian "stuff" also sold on Amazon. Just purchased this finch feeder (our second--but we have bought other manufacturers products as well to compare them). The polycarbonate tube is the only Achilles heel we can identify--the rest of the feeder is essentially all metal so as long as you aren't really abusive to the plastic tube--you should be fine. The only other thing that we have found a little annoying is the method in removing the bottom. For ours, you really have to pull hard to get the bottom perch assembly off the feeder. Other feeders we've tried have a spring loaded double catch (which, in time may rust and create its own problems...), which lets you remove the bottom in a snap--it's much more convenient than DY's method. Overall, we'd give this feeder 4.5 stars if we could...…..
