Reading & Math Jumbo Workbook: Grade 3

I teach my daughter at home (outside of her regular school), and we've shopped around for different workbook brands. The Scholastic Reading & Math jumbo workbooks are the best that I've found. The Grade 3 book is divided into sections: Learning Script, Spelling, Reading Skills, Vocabulary, Grammar/Writing, Addition & Subtraction, Multiplication & Division, Fractions & Graphs, and Geometric Shapes, Time, & Money. I like how many activities (incl. reading excerpts and decoding math puzzles) will reinforce other subjects, like science and social studies lessons. My only compliant is that there aren't more math practice pages. The book is very spelling/reading heavy. Still, a great workbook overall, esp. if you supplement with extra math from somewhere else.

This book should not be limited to third graders . Anyone needing help with reading and grammar at the basic level would benefit from the use of this workbook. I like how they have a answer sheet in the back to check your work. This book was used to assist teens with IEP learning issues. The children’s understanding of reading and grammar has improved significantly.

First 20 pages or so are written in cursive which is not taught in most schools these days which makes this workbook a bit archaic. Bought it as a third grade remedial summer workbook. Many pages seem advanced for remediation.

We love to use these Scholastic books as a supplement to our kiddos' other educational resources. We actually have them try to complete as much as they can for their current grade level over the summer after, to help reinforce the things they've learned throughout the school year. My first grader has even said much of it is fun to do. Thank you Scholastic for these books!

The book coincides exactly with what is taught as the 3rd grade curriculum. Highly recommended especially for the kids who struggle with reading comprehension. Also, they have a great cursive writing section that shows how to write each letter, as well as words to sentences to paragraphs. Love the cursive lessons especially since they don’t teach that in school anymore.

Print was too small for someone going into third grade.

Wonderful, educational book.

Such a great investment for your grade school kids or students. I use it as an extra way of continuing their school work to keep their little minds going . Easy to follow it is FILLED with a lot of different subjects.

Very easy to learn and a lot of material inside! My daughter loves them - she started with gr.2 and we got the rest of the grades after. Very nicely put together for an easy understanding for the kids!
