Easily the best caulking gun I'll ever have the pleasure of using.
After well over a decade, possibly more, my old Newborn caulking gun decided to be non functional on me. However, instead of buying another Newborn brand, as most of their caulking guns are made in China, I wanted a caulking gun that was made in USA. Then I found the COX brand and have never looked back since. Not only is half as heavy as my Newborn caulking gun (this caulking gun is made out of quality nylon) but for the first time in all the years of caulking I've done, I finally found a caulking gun that won't cause the caulk I am using to drip. Essentially, this caulking gun incorporates drip free technology. What that means is that I no longer have to do some caulking, then pull back and then resume like I had to for the longest time with my Newborn caulking gun. That used to drive me crazy and not ever having to do that ever again is worth buying alone. What I also really like about this caulking gun is the quality of the plunger and the fact it's all one unit. The Rod is made out quality steel, in addition, this rod has a nice finish as well. In addition, the trigger on this caulking gun significantly much better than my old Newborn. Instead of having to use a great deal of pressure/tension, this trigger usage is rather seamless. An added bonus, this caulking gun comes with a caulk pointer, this was quite useful when I did roof patching and the caulk I used is much denser than the regular types of caulk I use. All and all, this is easily the greatest caulking gun I'll ever use and I only recommend Cox brand caulking guns now. Made in USA, affordable and actually live up their claims on the packaging label. The other caulking gun brands I tried (Workforce, Newborn etc) weren't nearly as good this brand and typically were twice the price, despite the fact their products aren't made in USA or at least not anymore.I highly recommend this and would wager to say, this is a caulking gun that even a professional contractor would use.

Light and effective - my new "old favorite"
Just as good as the first one I bought (still working fine). Lightweight, responsive, releases well, durable. Very happy with these. Way better than the cheapo, metal contractor grade, and lighter and just as good as the pimped-out, fancy ones that cost too much for few additional features. I don't know why anyone would buy the cheapo or the Rolls Royce models after having used this one myself now for over three years. This second one only differs in that it's blue (ILO black, like my old one). Rarely would I get very excited about a tool of this type, but it really is a better idea to make 'em out of composite. How many bent-up metal frames have you chucked...? You can twist this one nearly 180* ... a rep showed me that when I bought the first one at a tradeshow-type event.

Choice of lifetime tradesmen
This is a great calk gun. It was chosen by my union carpenter friend (finished carpentry) who’s been in the building trades for over 40 years. There are so many poor calk gun models that don’t work properly and do a sloppy, unsatisfactory job. Big box stores sell these subpar models. You’ll think you’re unskilled, but the gun has a lot to do with a clean, finished look.

Great Caulk gun
UPDATE June 2012 - still using this same caulk gun. Still works great. Seems very strong and reliable. No issues so far.----------------------------------------------------ORIGINAL ReviewThis is a great caulk gun... I didn't realize it wasn't metal when I ordered it (guess I didn't read very close) but that hasn't been an issue. I've probably used 20 or more tubes of caulk with it now and its still working great. It does a good job of releasing the pressure when you let go... if you are pumping hard on the caulk you might still have to hit the thumb-release to keep the caulk from oozing out. But during normal use it usually doesn't "leak" when you set the gun down. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it doesn't have a way of cutting the tip off the tube. My old caulk gun (that died after 5 years of use) had a spot on the handle that would cut the tip off the tube. Not a big deal since you are likely to have a razor knife with you anyway. But a potential improvement for the product.
