I've been looking for a hat like this for years, mostly because of childhood memories of reading The Catcher In The Rye – To date, I hadn't found a red hunting cap that fit my requirements until now.There are several good points to this hat which I consider sets it above the competition.1). The brim is split. It has a divide down the middle, so that when it's on your head it forms a full hat brim, but which allows it to fold cleanly in half and fit into a bag very easily. I was initially worried because I thought the brim would lack firmness as a result, but after wearing it for a while I can say for certain that there is nothing a traditional brim can do that this split brim cannot.2). The fabric of the earflaps and neck protector is warm, but also still very pliable. My coat has a collar which often causes other hats with a neck protector to ride up and obscure my vision, but because of the fabric on this hat, that's not the case at all.3). The size fits me very well, as someone with a 60-62cm circumference head. It could probably fit someone with a 64cm head as well.All in all, zero issues, and some benefits I wasn't expecting at all. If you're looking for a copy of the hat Holden Caulfield wears, this is your best bet – and as a warm winter hat, it certainly does its job in addition to looking cool.

I wanted a hat like Holden Caufield's character in Catcher in The Rye and this did not disappoint. It's comfortable and definitely keeps your head warm.

I've bought so many hats, beanies, and sctaves with hoods and none of them keep my ears warm or stay on right. I bought the red one and it's so cute I came for the black one! It's large enough, all my hair can be up in a clip or down. I have a 22 1/2" head and it accommodates my head nicely. I love that it has the chin strap to wear securely or you can leave it open. Either way, I love this hat. It folds up nicely, and the bill is perfect!

My daughter started reading A Catcher in the Rye early in December and immediately fell in love with the book. We bought her Holden’s red hunting cap for Christmas and she was thrilled. It is well made and super warm. She plans on wearing it when I take her ice fishing in February.
