Lone Wolf and Cub Omnibus Volume 12

This is a seminal series, exceptional, unique & unforgettable. The detailed art work is incredible. It sets the mood, draws you in to a Japan of centuries ago You know what the towns looked like , roads, houses , each village is unique to itself. It is as though he took photographs of them & then drew them in every detail. imagine someone taking so much time to get every historical detail down for a "comic/manga" This is serious art. I often flip thru it for the art alone. I have 10 volumes so far and the patterns on the clothing never repeat. The tress are in their correct geological locations .The art is like photographs, true life. The battle scenes are fantastic, as though he watched battles in slow motion & choreographed them step by step. The expressions on the characters ring true from happening to happening. The story lines are also exceptional . The sad loving , strong relationship between the samurai & his young son will steal your heart. Sorry for not more on the story line but right now I am caught up in the art. The artist & writer were of one mind, a perfect match. An unforgettable series.

Basically a Toshiro Mifune Yojimbo in comic book form.

The final chapter of the series brings it all together amazingly. Made me go out and buy New LW&C, although I would have to say I prefer the original series. I read Crying Freeman when it first came out and have owned it for years, but discovered LW&C on Amazon and was quite happy I picked it up. Epic story, told in a classic fashion, with incredible artwork. Worth the investment.
