Well made and does the job
Very well made and easy installation. This lock will always lock when you close the door as it has no passage mode. I believe the SCHLAGE FE595 is the model with a passage mode

Great lock
Due to fire codes, we needed a door handle that would be locked from the outside, but remain unlocked from the inside for an exit. The staff uses it to come into the building. This fit the bill. In the past, we had the model that didn't auto lock to secure areas the public wasn't allowed (Flex Lock FE595). We've used those for over a year & the original 9V battery is still in them. Those locks work great & this is a version of that one. They look identical from the outside. They are heavy duty typical Schlage locks. The lock is easy to program & install. If you can turn a screwdriver, you can probably install this. The only problem I had, was the illustration shows the battery wire coming from the top of the lock. It doesn't, the wire is in the battery compartment. Like others have said, the battery is in the outside unit, so you have to take it apart to replace the battery. For our use, I actually like this better, because no one can easily take the battery out. The door handle works silky-smooth. When used from the outside keypad, you have a few seconds before it auto locks. The only down side is that it comes with only 1 key. It came with a Duracell 9V. We got the Aged Bronze, Accent Lever, Camelot Trim. To me, it looks black with a bronze accent. You can program up to 19 four digit codes, so not everyone has to learn a new code when someone quits. If you only give out the code, you don't have to have it rekeyed when someone leaves. I highly recommend this lock.

Easy to install and my kids love it! No more hidden key missing when you need it!
We have a door that the whole family uses on a daily bases and my wife insists that the doors to the house have to be locked all the time so the lock on that door gets a lot of use. Needless to say the lock was just about worn out and you could hear every time someone was coming in as they had to wiggle the key in the lock for 10-15 seconds before it would open. I talked to my wife a few times about getting one of these and she was against it for some reason.......I saw this one morning on Amazon in the 'deal' section at a great price (I looked at them before and most were over $110!) and decided to jump on it. I am glad I did.It was an easy install if you are replacing a similar lock. It popped right in and after a simple walk through programming it was working. The lock it-self is really smooth in operation and turns flawlessly. (We use to fight the old one....) When the door closes it is locked behind you. (You can leave it unlocked, but have to use the key provided to put it in that mode.) It was very easy to program and you can even add other codes for visitors and change them once you don't want them to visit anymore. This way you don't have to remember a new code for regular users. So if the plumber is coming you can give him a code for the that day and deactivate it when you get home and not have to change everything. Kinda, cool when you think about it. We used this feature while we were away for our friend to come in to feed our cats. The kids love it, they don't have to worry about having their key with them all the time and then using our hidden key to only not put it back. How many time have you locked yourself out of the house and go to get the hidden key and it is not there? We don't have that problem now! Plus we don't have to worry about our kids losing their key or some bully taking it from them on the bus.For me, I run every morning and use to have to hide my key outside the house every day. Running with a key SUCKS! Now I just come home put the code in and I am in, no more sweaty fingers trying to turn a stiff key. Plus this one lights up on those early morning runs.I do not know how long the battery lasts and what is involved with changing it? It came with a 9v battery. The 2 best features are: I have a teenager and when he pisses my off I can change the code, haha! and after my wife telling me how much she did not want one, she loves it and how easy it is to use!

Easy to install IF your existing lock hole matches. Instructions not perfect, lock is easy to use
I lucked out because I was replacing an existing Schlage key lock. But there are no instructions or tools for removing the old lock so it took 2 visits to YouTube to learn how to remove it. Also the instructions show the handles pre-installed and they aren't. Other than that, it was pretty easy to install and program and it works great. Others have noted that you actually have to remove the inner handle to change the battery. Its a 9V and I'm hoping that replacement doesn't come up that often.

Easy to install and works great
I have it on by back patio door. I had someone try and just walk into my home once while I was outside. This person was not in their right mind. Fortunately I was getting ready to leave and door was locked. However when home and running between inside and out I leave my doors unlocked. Now they are locked all the time. Some times I'd go to bed and forget to lock my door. Again nice. Last not least, not getting locked out.I have dead bolts to augment the door lock. If am home for night I use dead bolts, or leaving home for a period of time I lock dead bolts. These lockes help me make sure I am never unlocked. The code is easy to enter and get access to home. If you want door to stay open you can turn lock off, and leave in always open mode.

Great for group access
We needed a lock for a tack room in a small horse barn. Instead of giving out a half dozen keys, we assigned everyone the last 4 digits of their phone number. Nobody forgets their code, we don’t have to waste $$ getting keys cut all the time. The lock looks good and has worked well for the last few months. Was easy to install, too.

Does the job
Bought this lock on Prime Day! Great deal! VERY easy to install. (I’m no handy man) Took me 15-20 min start to finish. That includes reprogramming the entry code. It’s basic but does everything I need. Have it installed on a door to an outdoor storage closet. The auto locking feature is great. That feature cannot be turned off, but for my application it is not an issue. Fit and finish are A+ My only complaint is that when it comes time to change the battery, you have to take the whole unit off the door. The battery is housed under the keypad, not in a separate panel on the other side of the door like many other units on the market. I have Schlage locks and door handles throughout my entire home and have zero complaints.
