A useful book with a simple plan
This book is useful for people who need to put their financial house in order. When people enter recovery, they often have to recover in multiple areas of their lives, including in the financial area. I would definitely recommend this book.

Sober and Broke: How to Make Money, Save Money, Pay Debt and Find Financial Peace in Sobriety by Dirk Foster, is born out the author’s experience of the author which he wishes to share with others similarly placed: overcoming addiction and finding themselves financially broke. This he claims is one of the most difficult challenges to be faced by addicts in recovery - establishing a healthy financial life. The book contains a number of principles and tips, and above those some hard nosed guidelines concerning maintaining sobriety; commitment; and perseverance. The road is difficult and there are no shortcuts. The program for gaining and holding sobriety appears to be based on the 12-step AA program for being sober. The book assumes the victim is sober and can focus on building wealth - no step is too small in saving and managing money. The author provides his suggestions in the chapters of the book; but he also provides additional resources in a Website, a Facebook page, and an Author’s page for personal contact. I admire the ‘ground zero’ nature of his proposals; these are set out in a way that does not batter the involved subject with ‘screams’ and ‘bellows’ and guilt.I am sure that the willing subject will find growing ground in what the author shares, and I hope that the book will be more useful than its simply-put and easy-to-read captions suggest.Recommended.

Good read
Sober and Broke: How to Make Money, Save Money, Pay Debt and Find Financial Peace in Sobriety by Dirk Foster this book catch my attention because as a physician, even when now I only work at the local University, there are always times when these patients come to the university clinic seeking help and I thought that maybe this book can help us help them better. Of course, they have to be in sobriety as this book states clearly. The author has been here and has found a method to deal with this problem and he is sharing it with us. He also has a website, a facebook page and the author's page where people that are interested in going forward with the issue can get in touch with him. The program that he proposes, reminds me a lot of the 12 steps program that AA and other communities used to get sober of whatever the addiction is and for what I understand it is a method parallel to the method they used to get sober, so it must work well for them when they were able to get sobriety will be easier to make a good money balance following similar steps. I think this book has a lot of merits, first because the author was able to get sober, which is not easy at all and then because he uses his knowledge to get rid of another hug problem that they face when coming to sobriety that is the core of this book.

Useful, informative, clear guide to overcome financial problems caused by addiction.
“Sober and Broke: How to Make Money, Save Money, Pay Debt and Find Financial Peace in Sobriety” is a book written by Dirk Foster, the author offers his personal experience to help others overcome problems in life. This is a short and interesting book that any reader can enjoy during the weekend; it has almost one hundred and fifty pages. I believe it is an important read, not only for those struggling with alcohol and money but for those around them that may help. One of the most important problems alcoholics have to go through is financial. They spend what they don’t have to fulfill their desire. This book copes with both issues, but it is also helpful for drug addicts and gamblers who experience the same difficulties. In this book, Dirk gives advice and information on how to save and manage money but also how to invest and develop a better financial life. I will certainly recommend reading Sober and Broke.

Good, short, and information filled!
First and foremost, the book assumes you're trying to find your way to sobriety and the financial peace of it. It can still be useful for those who just want money saving tips. I think it can be applied to either side of the coin here.I thought it was a good short read that gives plenty of tips in achieving financial peace. Lots of tips on saving money, ways to make money, and much more. It's organized into five parts with each part containing essays on certain things. It definitely helps the reader take part by part, refer to a particular part, and or refer to a particular section, which allows the reader to always to come back to the book.I recommend it if your're looking for some helpful tips towards financial peace!

One Person’s Story of Finding Financial Freedom after Sobriety
While I have never had an addiction, I have been broke, so I always read just about any book to do with financial issues at my favorite book review site. I found myself curious about what this book might offer compared to other financial books that I might read. The book is well organized, with sections on healthy money habits, debt, cash flow, and investing. Unusual for a nonfiction book these days (it seems), the book delivered on the promise of its title and subtitle. What I found is a collection of miniature essays about a variety of financial topics written by someone who has been there, done that. You will not see a bunch of fancy terms or detailed advice, but I think this book does have value in that it could help a newly sober person facing financial difficulties approach the arduous task ahead of them without overwhelm that could send them back to their habit. I think the author has done a good service to those who, like him, a struggle with addiction and finance. Actually, there are some good tips in here for those of us who haven't had an issue with addiction.I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
