I wasn't sure about this one...
Because you can't see all the designs online (each one is very very different) - but took a punt cos I loved the cover and also the Owl I'd seen elsewhere. It's by 2 designers, and it's a mix of cartoon type insects in vaguely human settings (ants bringing tomatoes to an underground fitted kitchen, and caterpillars in cowboy boots anyone?), 'scrapbooking' type arrangements of designs overlaying and intersecting each other (really nice one with music/ birds/ flowers hearts), and funky takes on 'naturalistic' scenes (like the flowers on the cover). Turned out to be really interesting to do - even the cartoon ones that I wasn't too sure about when it arrived. Now I've done most of it, it's one I'd buy again just to do pages differently - great fun to do.The patterns are often quite complicated and it's not always easy to see where you're going, so not one for very little kids - more teens upwards I feel. There's a good range of tiny to large spaces to colour which adds variety. All designs are 25 x 18.5cm - there's some quite large expanses of space, and also some very small elements - so for this book, it'd be good to have fine liners and 4mm standard and thicker felt tips. Wax crayons wouldn't be fine enough for most of it. Pencil Crayons would work (there's some great shading opportunities). Outlines are medium thickness in Black.Has the major bonus of the title sheet being a repeat of one of the 30 designs in the book (bonus) and although it's got the title info printed on it, it's printed in grey. So, turns out that after all, grey lines are too easy to miss and go over so that's any books with grey outlines off my shopping list now (useful to know). As with all Dover Colouring books -- you get images on both sides of the paper - 15 pages = 30 sheets to colour (+ the title page FULL to edges one).- there's a good variety of designs with no duds, none of that 'ack I really don't feel like doing that one'.- felt tip pens do bleed through to the other side, but that doesn't bother me, I don't want to display my pages anywhere, I just want to kill some hours...- it's one of the Tree Friendly ones - cover 100% recycled, innards 50% recycled card/paper.

Detailed unusual pictures
As an adult I like detailed pictures and this book did not disappoint. I use a mixture of gel pens, felt tip, fine liners, pencils and water colour pencils to do my colouring in. I was only able to colour pictures on one side of a page in this book as the quality of the paper was not good enough to use both. However the paper quality is reasonably good and would be fine if only using pencil or crayons.30 pages of detailed patterned pictures with lots of flowers. Detailed enough to keep this granny happy but would be good for older children, some pictures may be a bit to detailed for younger children. I purchased this book for 1p with £2.80 postage so I was very happy with this purchase.

colouring book
I was disappointed in this book. I thought it would have more intricate and detailed designs than it did. I returned this item without problem.
