Weird Messaging
The book itself arrived in good shape and looked new. I bought this book for a baby shower and when I read through it after it arrived I thought the messaging was weird! The momma duck slowly loses her ducklings one at a time and then has to go try to find them after waiting what I can assume is a whole year (based off the fall and winter illustrations where the momma duck looks depressed). I feel like the messaging is telling kids to run away from their grownups because ultimately they will always find them ….

Solid but sad
A real tear jerker. The pained emotion on the Mother Duck's face will get your soul. Thankfully all finishes well and everyone finds their way back to their overbearing mother. Also of note- the duck that leaves first only has 1 duckling, while the duck that leaves last has 5 ducklings.

Great song, bad illustration for the price
I bought this book for my son because we have the other Raffi books, and he loves books for songs. It's a hit because he loves the Little Ducks song, but compared to the other books (Baby Beluga , Shake my Sillies Out, etc) the illustration is very amateur.I just don't think it's worth the same price as the others.

Sure to be a hit with any preschool/kinder class
My preschool class loves Raffi's song books. The songs are simple, engaging, and very catchy. This is a fun way to incorporate counting into a song; and preschoolers LOVE when stories follow a predictable pattern such as this one.
