Enjoyable rewrite
Having read the original King Kobold, oh so long ago, I thought I'd give this version a read. Its not the same book, its a very heavily reworked story with a lot taken out and a lot put in. I enjoyed it for what it is, pulp fiction that you can get through in a couple of sittings. Is it better than the original version? IMO no. But to be fair if this was the predecessor and it was the other way round I may be saying that this is the better version. Its a good Stasheff read that goes along at a fast pace for me, with some humour and folklore thrown in. It differs from the original to "almost" be classed as a new book, a Warlock of Gramarye book 2B if you will. I enjoyed it and it has made me want to reread the original version again (still got it on a shelf behind me) knowing they are different enough that it wont be boring.

After reading the Revised version
I did a comparison witht he original version which I have in paperback. The older version is not perfect by any means but it an enjoyable romp. The revised version is a slog by comparison. This is my own opinion but I think many people who remember the original version will be disappointed.

formula again
oh dear. Why did I even bother. Why did Mr Stasheff I wonder? Suggest you don't - bother that is.
