The Promise: The Amazing Story of Our Long-Awaited Savior

This book is well written and the illustrating is tremendous. Even a cursory look at the illustrating will show a depth of skill and dedication to the material that certainly enriches the writing. This was a great gift to give. We bought three copies to give away. It was well-received by the children. One young neighbor asked her mother as soon as she opened it, "Mom, can we all read this together tonight?" You can't ask for a much better gift reception than that!

I love the message of this book - that the only one who can deliver us from our sin and eternal death is Jesus the Savior. It is succinct, and covers all the great leaders of the Old Testament with minimal words. It is the artwork that is arresting. Kids will get the gist of the darkness that sin brings, and the fear that it will remain unless a deliverer can be found. But when Jesus is born, then dies, I can just hear kids give a loud HOORAY! I bought 3 of these books for gifts for families at our church at Christmas time.

Such an incredible and well-illustrated book. My 6 and 7 year-olds were fascinated.

This is a wonderful Bible-based book for young children.

We are going through this book as a family and are loving it. The unique illustrations help keep our 1 & 3 year olds engaged, and we enjoy that it has Bible passage references listed in the back for each section that allows us to go deeper with our 7 & 9 year olds. Thankful for another resource that clearly & creatively lays out the gospel message for young and old minds alike.

We have really enjoyed this book! The illustrations are great, but the story itself is absolutely wonderful! I love how it addresses each patriarch, their failings, and why they could not be the saviour. Then how Christ, sinlessly, perfectly exceeds where the patriarchs fell short and why he is the saviour. It's a really good portrayal of who Christ is and why we need him. My kids love it, but as a parent I really enjoy it too. It opens the way to good conversation with children about salvation.

This book is fantastic. The way it lays out the story and continues to build up on it as we cover the Old and New Testament. I highly recommend this for any family with young children

A brilliant book for anyone looking for an overview of how the Old Testament points to Christ. I read it with my 10 year old and he enjoyed it so much we read it in one sitting. Fantastic illustrations, so much to draw on and really appreciate the scripture references in the back as we are going to use it as a starting point for family devotion.
