A beautiful informative book
Hamama gives the reader a portrait of the lives of Yemenite Jews in Yemen and Israel , both on a personal and societal level. It is poignant and heart-breaking at times. It is well worth reading both for its historical value and engrossing personal story.Laura W.

A must read!!!
A literary masterpiece. This book brought out so many emotions. At times I smiled, at times I cried and most importantly it brought out so many memories of my families immigration to the state of Israel. Such a pleasure to read. Heads up to the author for a job well done. Could not lay it down from the moment I started reading it. This book kept my curiosity at bay throughout. The chapters kept getting better and better. Such a well written book. Looking forward to more from this author.

Amazing Story and Beautiful Perspective
This is a beautifully written book. The story is compelling and provides a unique insight into the Yemenite Jewish Aliyah experience in this time period. I also really enjoyed the stories about what Jewish life was like in Yemen before 1948. The book really makes the reader appreciate the sacrifice, dreams, and realities of the early builders of Israel. Highly recommend for a captivating story and written by a very talented author.

The book “Hamama” by Sarit Gradwohl is an excellent and rare masterpiece that combines the historical with the personal, a real-life story of the traditional Yemenite Jews and their challenges and struggles. Easy reading. I felt like I was there. I love this book. It would be a great gift for my friends. Also, I think it would be a good scenario for a movie.
