ONLY APPEARS TO BE A GOOD DEAL
I thought I had found a good deal when I purchased this derailleur, but did not realize that you do not get all of it. They exclude the mounting hardware from the purchase. There is no notice that it is not included with the part and needs to be purchased separately, giving the impression that they are well aware of the perceived faux pas, making it look all that much more like a scam. The excluded bolt is normally attached to the derailleur and held there with the included snap ring, but not in this instance. While the excluded part is merely a bolt that attaches the purchased component to the frame of the bicycle, it is a pretty specialized piece of hardware. You can't just go to the hardware store and purchase one of these. When I shopped for one here on amazon, the bolt is available, but can set you back up to another $65,(depending on the seller) making that bargain that I thought I had secured, die a thousand violent deaths.$65 for a bolt?Other than that, the part appears to be well constructed, but I can't tell you how it works, since I'm still waiting for the bolt to get here.

Sram put does Shimano Again!
I bought this Sram X3 rear deraillure because not knowing my Shimano was not compatible with my X3 and X4 speed shifters. The Shimano was not only not compatible it was worn out to make matters worse. After receiving the the X3 derailleur I noticed that the Shimano has a perminate mount for a rear hanger so I ordered a new mount for my store bought mountain bike. Well this bracket was going to take a month to arrive and it had me upset that I couldn't put the Sram rear derailleur on until it came so I went on a Bike shop adventure asking if anyone would have one laying around that I could buy and sure enough after visiting a local bike shop who didn't have it I was turned on to another shop who had the nicest black lady who said she had one and she went and found it in her shop and said it would cost 13.00 dollars well I explained my dilemma to her and she was so kind to sell it to me fir 6 dollars. So I have a new Bike Jersey that I bought from China that is real cool and it was to small right? So for that nice lady letting me have the bracket to mount my X3 and by the way it now shifts like a dream and is crisp with each gear change to wonderful. Anyways I'm going to take that Jersey down to that lady and give it to her for the kindness she showed me. I really needed that bracket to stop the skipping, the jumping and the rest of the crap that going on with my drive train and she was so cool to let me have that Brackett cheap so she will get this 30 bike jersey from me. Thank Sram for the great X3 is a sweet set up now shifts great , crisp, smooth the derailleur was the ticket for sure. Sram shifters, derailleurs and all there products are far better products for the lower end stuff than anything Shimano has and they can be taken apart unlike a Shimano as well. Just a good set up and upgrade for this store bought 29r. Thanks Sram. Dale

Cheap plastic, but works perfect.
I ordered the X3 derailleur as a cheap stopgap while I waited for the US postal service to deliver an X7 derailleur that got lost in the mail. The X3 works fantastically. Yes it is plastic. Yes the pulleys are not replaceable. Yes it's only $20. But if shifts extremely smooth and precise. I've since received and installed the X7 derailleur I originally ordered and I can't hardly tell the difference. The X7 is all aluminum (except for the cable routing hook/loop) and the pulleys are replaceable. The X7 may be just a hair quicker, but the shift action on the X3 is actually lighter since the spring is not as strong. If you're looking for something that will work well with SRAM shifters and rival the performance of the costlier stuff, but not quite as concerned about durability, this is a great product.Would not hesitate to use and intall another.

Not the same as original equipment
I bought this as in original equipment replacement for my Trek Pure. And almost 10,000 miles on the original. That's one broke in half on my second ride. Definitely not original equipment replacement

Works great with shimano setup.
I was changing from a shimano setup on my spare mtb. After putting this on with an X4 shifter and sram chain, it worked great and I saved quite a few grams. No, you cannot use this with a different brand shifter (and most likely chain). I was also able to keep cassette and chain rings. It is definitely an upgrade from shimano system. At this price point, you can't find anything much better.

Used to replace my derailleur on my mountain bike. My derailleur would no longer adjust and was worn out. This derailleur adjusted quickly and has worked flawlessly for several months.

Perfect fit, I was worried as my bike is a cheap unit, but after carefully reviewing the specs and matching to my bike, it works like a charm. Had a little difficulty getting it set up as I was stubbornly not reading the instructions. Once I read them and studied the derailleaur function, I had it adjusted and working fine. Great product for the price.
