Great, but be careful in smaller builds
This is amazing for running 8 HDDs at full speed. My motherboard recognized it immediately right after first post. Just works with no drivers or compatibility issues. No raid built in, so make sure you are using a software solution if you want pairity/redundancy. Works amazing with UNRAID.Also, the image is a bit deceiving... This does NOT come with the SFF-8643 mini sas hd to SATA cables. You'll need to buy those separately and they are not super cheap (a 2-pack was an additional $25).I will say that I have this installed in a small NAS enclosure and it really does need some decent air flow to stay cool. I ended up having to add a 40mm fan over the heatsink because it was running very hot under load. Just an FYI to keep an eye on. Otherwise this is a great card.

Perfect for a TrueNas Build
Well packed, clean, and looked brand new - doesn't appear to be a knockoff. This has been working great in my TrueNas system. I had to flash the bios and firmware to what was needed for my system. plenty of information on how at the TrueNas forums. For the reviews that say it doesn't work with RAID, i don't think it's meant to. its just a standard controller (HBA). Always do your research to see if the controller will do what you need it to.

Broke my ZFS pool and deadlocked the whole server
It's garbage. I installed it and set up a ZFS pool. It worked for about 2 days, before it broke the whole pool and took me a few days to recover everything. I used the drives without this controller successfully for a few months before I wanted to add another backup drive, so I tried to use this controller again. This time, after several hours to a day or two, the server would become unresponsive until I would force restart the entire machine. Played with some BIOS settings to see if anything would fix it; everything looked fine. Once again, I removed the controller and all of my issues were solved. It's junk. Buy once, cry once on a controller that will actually work for you. I'm throwing this thing out so I can enjoy a stable node.

Working great for TrueNas
It took me a couple tries to get the right cable to go from this card to my SuperMicro backplane, but once I sorted out the cables, this card is working great. I'm using it for 8x 22TB SAS drives and passing through the PCI device to TrueNAS virtualized in VMWare ESXi. Zero complaints, it just works!

Useless card
Doesn't support RAID of ANY kind! Unlike all the documentation statements
