The size was correct, which has been a big problem for me. It is hard to get 18 inch for some reason. It is pretty robust and doesn't tarnish the fur of the dog. My dogs are outside on a farm, so they get wet, and it hasn't rusted. The only problem I have is that it broke. My female Kanni dog was pulling at the leash because a stray had gotten into our fence, and it broke into two pieces. She ran off after the dog, and I had no way to even separate them or pull her back away. She has done this with other collars, so it is hard to find one strong enough to hold her when she really wants to go! So if your dog really pulls at a leash, this might not be strong enough. It is perfectly fine for my other females since they don't pull so much.
