All of the Aroy-d products I have tried have been excellent. Also making tom yum soup at home is dramatically cheaper then ordering from a restaurant that are now almost $30.00 for a order, and is pretty easy when using this paste. When ground beef is more expensive than scallops, or shrimp per pound I will clearly order the seafood. It is very inexpensive to make a really nice soup with this paste. I will also say I like adding fresh coconut milk, or canned coconut cream to the soup. The coconut cream gives the flavor of coconut plus the sweetness, and you can use it instead of palm sugar and coconut milk. You can also adjust the amount of coconut milk or cream to your taste. It can also cut the heat and how spicy so I will add chili crisp or chili oil because I like some heat, and can add it to my bowl so not to spicy for others. Once you try this if you like tom yum you will order it again.

This item is exactly as described and pictured. I really wanted a soup base for Tom Yum and had a hard time finding it in my town. So, to Amazon I searched and found this item! It is delicious and is exactly what I was looking for. Taste exactly like I imagined it would. It was affordable and the shipping time was reasonable. All you have to do is scoop some into some boiling water. Add your desired meats and vegetables and you are done! So easy to use.

Good soup base concentrate. Spicy, as it's supposed to be -- not over the top to the point where I love it, but pay for it the next morning, so to speak. You still have to add your own other ingredients (veggies, protein, or whatever else you want) to make it more than just a broth, but that's no different than using any bullion concentrate or cubes.

I love to cook Thai food at home, and while that may sound intimidating, I have found that I can usually recreate my favorite restaurant dishes for a fraction of the cost--and actually they taste better and with less sodium than what they serve in restaurants!I was a little nervous about trying this product, but decided to buy it because a small serving of Tom Yum Goong is $8 at the local Thai restaurant, so massive savings if this product works--and it does! The soup I made at home is just as good if not better than the restaurants.The packaging gives some basic instructions. I did not have fresh lemongrass, but that was ok. The paste is made from lemongrass anyway. It also calls for galangal, and while I know that ginger is frowned upon by authentic Thai chefs as not being an appropriate substitute, I did use ginger and I think the local Thai restaurant uses ginger too. It still came out great. I think it's pretty important to have a fresh lime and squeeze the lime juice in there. It definitely won't have the right taste without that--but for everything else play around and see what tastes good to your personal preferences. (The package also calls for you to add fish sauce, and typically you can substitute Worcestershire if you don't have any authentic Thai fish sauce just an fyi). This is similar to making Thai curries from the paste that comes in tubs just like this paste. Another awesome thing about this product is that it gives both metric and the U.S. measurements, whereas a lot of Thai products only give metric measurements.I was amazed at how great this tastes, and I will be a repeat customer for sure!
