New Blade
Bought the blade as a replacement as our original get damaged. Works really great, east to use and really sturdy. The feet, suction cups, are really good. Does not move while cutting potatoes.

Loved these homemade shoestring fries!
This potato slicer is solid, well made, and durable. It was not cheap, but It will last for many years to come. We saw many slicers that looked cheaply made and flimsy. The suction cup feet are wonderful on a counter top, but if you have a tile counter like we do then suction cups may not fit perfectly on your tile spacing. We will attach the feet to a large cutting board to help keep it stable during use. It takes a lot of leverage to push a whole potato through, but it is fun and quite satisfying to do so. It is heavy to move, and cumbersome to store, but if you enjoy fries and want to avoid all the grease of deep frying, then try the oven baked fries! We love the fact that there were 3 choices in blade size. We chose the shoestring (smallest size) which we prefer. This slicer is not for everyone, but it is exactly what we were looking for. Hope this review helps you in your decision.

Easily cuts potatoes with the 1/2" blade. Heavy duty. Easy to clean. Holds large potatoes.
My husband and I often have French fries with meals, and I have wanted to make homemade fries to avoid buying the bags of frozen fries that often dehydrate and accumulate ice. In addition, making your own fries saves money over buying the processed fries and is a healthier option. A couple years ago, my husband bought me one of the highly rated French fry cutters from Amazon. I tried this potato cutter once, and couldn't get the first potato cut. I asked my husband (who could put more weight on it than I could) to try with the cutter, and he had a hard time getting one potato cut. Needless to say, this French fry cutter was never used again.Recently, I decided to find a French fry cutter that might work more easily, and found this commercial grade French fry cutter. I was hesitant to order it because of the negative reviews, but decided to try it. I am so glad I did. I received this French fry cutter today, and had to try it immediately. Assembly was super easy. Once assembled, I cut 1 1/2 lbs. of potatoes which amounted to about 7 medium sized potatoes, and used the 1/2 inch blade.I couldn't believe how easily all of the potatoes were cut into fries with practically no effort. Honestly, it took no more than 3 seconds to cut each potato. As yet, I haven't tried the smaller 3/8" blade that came with this, but am assuming this blade may require more pressure because of the smaller cut. I also ordered the additional 1/4" blade and pusher that will be reviewed on that product page.I ordered the black version of this French fry cutter that includes the 1/2" and 3/8" blades and pushers, and ordered the 1/4" blade and pusher sold on another page. I did consider the set that included the 6 wedge and 8 wedge cutters, but decided I didn't need these cutters. For these cutters to work properly, the potato would have to be wide enough for the center of the cutters to hit the center of the potato. This would require a potato at least 4" wide that is seldom found. In addition, cutting large wedges with a knife is really not difficult. So, to sum it up at this time, what I like about this French fry cutter is: 1 - The body of the unit is made of cast iron and very heavy duty. 2 - The blades are very sharp and easily cut through potatoes. 3 - The blades are easy to remove and clean using the provided thumb screws. Spraying with warm water easily cleans the blades. 4 - The suction cups are super strong to hold the unit to any surface. 5 - Can cut potatoes up to 5 /12" in length. 6 - The long handle provides enough leverage to easily cut through potatoes. What I don't like about this French fry cutter is: 1 - Changing the pusher to match the blade size requires a screwdriver. 2 - Once assembled, it requires a lot of storage space because of the height of the handle.I thought I should also add some info on how to make really great French fries. The potatoes pictured are soaking in water overnight to remove the starches in the potatoes. After soaking, they will be rinsed 3-4 times, and then dried on a towel. Once dried, they will be baked at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. After baking, they will be cooled and frozen. After being frozen, they will be air fried for at least 25 minutes at 400-450 degrees depending on your oven. I found out that cooling and 2 bakes are required because the potatoes release moisture after the first bake that prevents them from crisping on the first bake.At this point, I am extremely impressed with this French fry cutter. Since I just received it, and used, it today, this review will be a work in progress, and will be updated as I try the other blade sizes.I hope this review was helpful for you.
