What you need to know about this Media Reactor - the O-Ring at the top
I have been running a 120 gal miniature reef for 18 years, and have had a heck of a time with my phosphate levels. I've got some large tangs that love to eat, so each pellet of food seems to remind me to do the next water change. A CPR skimmer does most of the heavy lifting - but I decided to get a phosphate reactor after talking to the guys at a new fish store I found. I set it up, which was very easy to do, and after two weeks of phosban, my phosphate levels have dropped to zero. This will probably cut my water changes by more than half. It seems to work very reliably with a 300 gph pump in the sump. For the price, it's a pretty effective upgrade on the tank. I'm glad I got it.AMENDING SLIGHTLY - The o-Ring that seals the screw on top - is a "wear part" that seems to eventually lose its shape. The o-ring is critical to this unit not leaking. Just ordered a replacement for $5.20. Phos-Ban is expensive, but it's critical to keeping my phosphates low in a fish-and-coral tank.EDITED FEB 1 2018: Hint: Before putting the o-ring into the top of the screw-on top - lubricate the o-ring with vaseline. Not enough to get into the water - but enough so the o-ring won't bind against the dry plastic when you tighten it. THAT'S where the leak on the top come from; kinking the o-ring

Durable, cheap and easy to clean
Don't waste your money on expensive reactors. I've been running the 150 and 550 for years without issue. And they are easy to remove and refill. Works great as a recirculating CO2 scrubber too.

Excellent diy media holders
Works great as DIY sand snad filters and k1 media chambers. Too bad these are very pricey at 89 bucks a pop. But it serves its RE-purpose for my needs.

Didn't Work For Me!
This is my second one. Both of them leak. Seems to be the wrong o ring can't get either one to stop leaking. Tried to contact the company but can't get through to them. I am not pleased at all. Ended up having to purchase a different brand and it's working great. No leaks!

Great Product.
I bought this reactor oversized for my tank because I decided simply because I already had the smaller 150 and I wanted a bigger one. Firstly I run activated carbon in this reactor not phosban. Ideally you can run either one I have two so I run phosban in the smaller and this being the larger I use carbon. Regardless of the name both will run fine, as you can even by one reactor and run both media in it at the same time. This uses the up flow principle whereby water is pumped through the thin clear tube in the picture and pushed from downwards to flow up thereby allowing the water to flow upwards passing through your media whether it be carbon or GFO. As a result the water is fully flows thorough under light pressure and purified or cleaned. I use Two Little Fishes brand of carbon and phosban with positive results. Water is crystal clear and phosphate free. Things to note, this does not include a pump, you need to purchase a pump separately for use with this. Also this does not come with any filter media such as carbon or GFO. Lastly you will need hosing for this to connect your pump to the body of the reactor and another piece for water to leave it. I believe if memory serves me right it is a 1/2 inch. All in all it's a great product that gets the job done.

work good until you get a leak
i have a 300g shark tank and this worked very well in my sump, but yesterday the 90 degree fitting busted and leaked a lot of water in my house... now the body is great i like the unit it self , but the rubber fittings it comes with are not worth using for more then 2 months with out risking water damage from when it busts and sprays your tanks contents on your floor...also the gasket like to warp( if it warps it lightly leaks) so prepare to buy them in bulk..

Works great hanging off the back of a 45 bowfront
I have this hooked up to an individual pump on my 45 gallon tank. It does a great job as a phosphate reactor, although I'm fairly sure that any similarly sized reactive powder would work. It comes with a few different fittings for hooking it up to a tank in various configurations. Has been running for a few months at this point.

Phosban Reactor 550
Delivery was fast & very good service from the couriers, the first delivery was not successful due to the fact I was out, but they came back to delivered the item after 18.00hrs which I think was very good service, a first in my experience, now about the item Phosban Reactor is very good, it dose all it suppose to do, however, fitting the filter was a bit of bother with the pump & pipes connections, it took me about 2 hrs to fit the whole thing together, but time worth spending at the end, to see the tank getting all the benefits of the reactor, even reefs are growing from my live rocks now, one very happy customer.

Brilliant
Needs better end plates to prevent media escaping but otherwise great. All connections come with this very well built piece of essential kit.
