A Lot to Like
I noted that prior reviews were all over the place so this is obviously one of those products that you either like or dislike without much room in between. For me, I liked it a lot. I'm a 69 year-old male who works out in the hot sun of Central Arkansas a lot. My skin tends to dry out pretty badly and during the summer it tends to get pretty blotchy. This shower gel has definitely helped with the dry skin. I come out of the shower feeling somewhat like I'd been showering in very soft water which we do not have. It kind of feels like it's hard to dry off but I consider that a good thing. I'm very fussy about rinsing well so I know it's not leaving any excess film on my skin - I rinse by using a separate washcloth and letting the water run over me a number of times. I also like the scent; it's not overly heavy but the citrus accents are clearly discernible. At just under $10 for an eight ounce bottle, I think it's reasonably priced especially considering its USDA (and the Vermont Organic Farmers, LLC) certified organic rating. Although it doesn't specifically say it, I'm guessing that the product is manufactured in the US. I couldn't find anything to indicate otherwise. By the way, I use the product by pumping the gel on to a body brush and working my way from head to toes. Usually I only need one pump, sometimes two. Call me a fan and I'll buy again. Highly recommended.

Great bath gel!
Love this gel and love the healthy natural organic ingredients. It feels great on the skin and the orange scent is nice. Will definitely continue to buy it.

Unnecessarily slimey (from guar gum), small amount that doesn't go far
I find Dr. Mercola products to be overpriced and somewhat gimmicky for how much health fanatics worship the guy and how much he claims to be a purist (a lot of his products aren't that pure). But that aside, the problems I have with this soap isn't the ingredients, except for one.I go through soap VERY slowly. It doesn't take much soap to get clean as long as you're washing thoroughly with hot water, or even cold water. A little soap goes a long way and I'm almost borderline obsessive about cleanliness. Somehow, this soap doesn't go far....at all. A little DOESN'T go a long way and that's coming from someone already used to natural, thin soaps without lathering ingredients. I don't need lather to feel clean so that's not the problem here. This is a very thin, watered down soap in a very small bottle but sold for a very high price.Ok, natural things tend to be pricier, I get that. But this soap didn't cost that much to produce and while the ingredients are clean, free from unnecessary fillers, synthetic fragrances, and lathering agents, I can tell the company pulled some tricks and cut corners to thin this out as much as possible while still selling it at a premium cost. The biggest mistake they made with this soap was adding guar gum. Guar is not a bad ingredient, it's natural, it's from a bean, and it's used as a thickener in foods. It's basically a soluble fiber. It has no cleansing properties. You need a VERY TINY amount of guar gum to thicken things and it doesn't thicken in the way you might want it to: it has a tendency to make things slimey, like snot level of slimey. And that's what happened with this soap. The added guar gum adds a slimeyness that doesn't address the thinness of the soap and doesn't aid in cleaning anything. If anything, it hinders cleaning by coating your skin in a layer of snot (sorry to use such a graphic simile). Guar gum is also a cheap way to make this soap seem denser than it is and give the illusion you're getting more product when you're mostly getting water and a little glycerin and potassium hydroxide, all very cheap ingredients. This does have some great essential oils but in very small amounts that are barely perceptible at all. You can hardly smell them and they aren't potent enough to help with germs.Overall, this does have way better ingredients than most soaps on the market, even so-called natural ones that still utilize harsh chemicals, but it's just not cost-effective and leaves me with the same bad feeling most Dr. Mercola products leave me with: the disappointment that I'm being conned into something that's touted as being so much more special than it is when it's just a money making scheme by the company to sell you a product that cost them a fifth of the price to produce.

Nothing Special, Felt Clean, Subtle Scent
I do like the Mercola brand, I've tried several products and am usually very happy, but this shower gel was just ok. The bottle itself is easy to work with, very sturdy plastic, with a nice big spray button. It is organic with healthy ingredients like coconut, orange peel and lemon oil, aloe vera leaf juice, and rosemary. As far as the scent, it faintly smelled like citrus, I actually could smell the coconut oil more. The instructions say to shake well and use 2 - 3 squirts of gel. You definitely need to shake this because the first time I used it I didn't and it made a difference in smell and the way it felt on my skin. I found myself using like 4 squirts of gel, to feel like totally clean, so I think that is quite a bit for such a small bottle. After I used it, I felt clean, but my skin didn't really feel moisturized like other shower gels I have used. My skin didn't feel dry or itchy either, just sort of neutral. This is not a bad shower gel, I just think there are better options, especially at this price point.

Pretty good organic shower gel
I'm a fan of the Dr. Mercola brand and have purchased many of their supplements. This Bath and Body Gel is the first non-supplement product from the brand that I've tried, and so far, the impression is mostly favorable. The "Sweet Orange" scent is very pleasant. The consistency is not as thick as my other body soaps, as it feels a bit more liquidy. I am willing to attribute that to the fact most ingredients are organic and there are no harmful chemicals that are present in some other products. The gel lathers well and washes off clean, leaving a faint pleasant smell on the skin and leaving skin moisturized. As I mentioned before, the ingredients are organic and include coconut oil, jojoba oil, and aloe vera. As far as value for the money, this body wash is a bit more expensive, but this is an organic product and you get what you pay for. Overall, this is a pretty body wash if you like organic products and don't mind the high price.
