I use this to check the salt level in my pool. The original one started giving me "zero" readings and I was not able to calibrate it. After communication with Oakton, they determined that it was failed. I contacted Amazon and that unit was replaced with a new one. I was able to calibrate this one and verified the reading was consistent with my chlorinator readings and the water test at the pool store. Pretty much hassle free. I did have to return the original one.

All I wanted was a TDS tester like another Oakton unit I had. What I received from reading the operating manual is a complicated tester requiring more solutions to calibrate and store that were not pointed out on purchase and a push this button and that button to calibrate for use. I live outside the country, so this device appears to be a total waste of my money.

Item is as described I failed to notice screen is not capable of backlighting. Which would help read the display. End use is hydroponic tank mixes and blends.Meter read our R.O. at 0 micro siemens. Soften WW reading 860ppm.Waiting on calibration solution to see if meter is worth keeping.Bought as a "used" from Amazon. Will update as needed.
