High Temperature High Gloss Self Leveling Brush On Black G2 Brake Caliper Paint System Kit

I want to write this review to help others make a smart and informed decision regarding what G2 is and what they can expect from it. I have never painted brake calipers before in my life and this was the most accessible way for me to do it so I did make a few mistakes. However, I do believe that my experience is still relevant to those who will tackle their project while following G2's instruction strictly.First off, I believe that what I have done was fairly ambitious. I repainted 4 2-pot piston Porsche calipers by myself, which significantly increased the time it takes to finish all 4 calipers. The G2 managed 2 full coats without issues with enough left over for touch ups. The touch ups are essential however as in my experience, the paint is prone to developing fish eyes, resulting in patches of clearing that needed to be filled. G2 also dries rapidly and thickens fairly quickly so working quickly is important.Do no use the brushes included int his kit and source good quality brushes for the job. And if you have read up on forums that used 1 inch foam applicators/brushes, be warned that those are good for only a few minutes as they do end up disintegrating eventually, leaving behind specks on the uncured paint. I do not recommend them.Lastly, the G2 is not for everyone. In my opinion, the G2 is unique in that it allows people to easily apply and change the color of their calipers. But for someone like me who was aiming for restoration and full rebuild of the calipers, the product is imperfect. The applicate is too long for the short curing window for full caliper repainting and the application does not self-level to perfection. You will probably notice brush strokes that cannot level out eventually as the application grows increasingly tackier and thicker. So while the amazing properties of the G2 for durability and chemical resistance/thermal resistance is appealing for track day drivers or non-aesthetic users, the G2 is not really the best choice for people looking for that factory perfect restoration. Stick to 2K spray gun or baking regular brake paint to achieve such results.I do believe that G2 is an excellent product otherwise. It's durable, chemically hardy, and thermally resistive to damage. They can be applied without fancy equipment or spraying and is one of the products that allows application while the caliper is still on the car.BUT, if you want that factory fresh rebuild and perfect finish, consider other options. If G2 can make a spray paint version that can apply quickly and evenly, it would be a great option.And yes, I am aware that they sell a fillable aerosolizer but I've heard bad things about that.

Good product. Durable and goes on easy. I would recommend a fresh set of brushes between each coat as the epoxy will stiffen the brushes. The kit contains enough paint to easily coat 4 calipers with 2 coats each, and possibly up to 4 coats each depending on the size of the calipers. Does a fair job of filling in metal casting texture, but it will not give a completely smooth finish on its own.

Worked well for colouring my brake pads to better match my custom car paint.

I masked off what I needed to mask off with green painters tape. I painted two medium coats around the painters tape then peeled the painters tape back off while it's still wet... Then I went back and painted the rest with three light coats... I just went from one wheel to the next as I painted quickly... Started very thin like water and after about an hour and a half it had already started to thicken to about like Dollar store syrup. Work fast... it's not as "self leveling" as they say... atleast not after it thickens... it will show brush strokes after it thickens. You have nowhere near 4 hours... more like an hour and a half till it leaves brush strokes. It was 75 degrees outside. Acetone cleans it off the rotor very easily.

Nice product. Looks like powder coat when done and dry. Easy to apply. Only suggestion is don't use the brushes that are provided. Mine left hairs behind in the coating and you can see them, fortunately I was able to pull them before the product dried. I had to recoat that area twice because it left a line in the coating. Other then that, went on easy and looks good when dry. Very shiny black.
