These 12x18 mat boards are basic creamy white and fine for the photos that I'm framing. Thankfully those frames are all 11x14 and 12x16 because the full 12x18 size of the boards is not useable. The boards were packaged inside a close fitting cardboard box with no internal padding. I've included a photo of the worst of the corners when the package arrived today. The other three corners were also smuched but not as severely. Inside all four corners of the mats were damaged on the half dozen mats I've pulled out thus far. Those have been trimmed to size and will meet my needs, but be careful if you'll need the full size.
