SKILSAW SPTA70WT-ST Table Saw Stand with Tool-Less Latches for 10" Portable Jobsite Worm Drive

I decided not to spring for the more expensive wheeled version of the Skilsaw wormdrive saw stand. I have a freind who has the Bosch equivalent of the rolling setup and it is heavy and a lot for one person(older) to muscle around. They are nice but I like this stand better, not just beause of the cheaper price. I choose the wormdrive Skilsaw for it's compact size and power. I have a shop saw but I wanted a well built site saw and stand with maximum portability. If you break the saw apart from the stand you have two relatively light pieces that come apart and go back together very quickly.The stand itself folds down into a flat compact packackage for moving around and the Skilsaw itself can be carried about with one arm as it is designed to do so.I can actually put everything in the rear seat area of my truck(for security only).The saw to stand clamping system is well designed and very quick and simple to engage, but be careful of your fingers when snapping the clamps down, thanks for the heads up from another reviewer.The stand is very stable for it's size.It is not tippy at all. This is a great portable saw system, but not a shop saw by any means.A very good compromise though and remember one of the reasons shop saws are so great is they are VERYHEAVY and that weight dampens vibration.. We'll see if the whole unit stands the test of time. Stand itself is a great value,quaily of construction is excellent.Very easy to assemble.

THE GOOD (GREAT):First of all this stand is sturdy...period. It requires some assembly with a number 3 phillips and a 1/2 inch wrench. Very simple assembly. I love the compactness when folded. The Skilsaw worm drive sits firmly on the stand when attached. The angled metal the saw actually sits on does seem a bit thin at first but is adequate.THE NOT SO GOOD:The 2 clips that hold the saw to the stand are difficult to latch. Both latches actually "bit" me while trying to engage them. It's quite a stretch trying to get the latch over the bottom rail. The first latch goes on somewhat easy. The second one will take some effort. Be very careful and maybe wear a glove while trying to engage the second latch.THE UGLY:There is nothing ugly about this stand, only the small wound on my hand trying to engage the latch.RECOMMENDATION:I would actually prefer two latches on each side slightly looser instead of one on each side so ridiculous tight. Just a possibility I might have gotten a defect. I will be in touch with the manufacturer.

This stand works perfectly with the SPTA70WT-ST saw, which is not surprising as they were designed for each other. It is very simple to set up: just install the legs using the fasteners included in the package, unfold the stand, put your saw on top, close the clasps on the saw, and - voila - you're done. It took all of a few minutes. The instructions that came with my version are more lengthy (and outdated, I think), and the legs can adjust somewhat if the table is not level. But I had no issues: it was perfectly flat and level, straight out of the box. Another thing to emphasize is how solid this stand is. If you were to put a piece of plywood on top, you would not feel any unease standing on the thing.

Used this for my Ryobi table saw. Wasn't sure how I was going to mount it. I drilled holes in the side of the plastic base, put in some hex bolts, and the hold down clamps gripped them nicely. Very sturdy. Easy to use.

It holds the saw security, but it doesn't for very small when folded. It folds flat, but because the legs splay out, it is wider than the saw, and fairly tall. It won't fit on a shelf like the saw, or under a table. I will have to put some hooks on a wall to hang it.

Lightweight and sturdy, but be careful the first few times clipping the stand to your saw. Mine was very tight and hurt like hell when it snapped into place. Try using pliers instead of fingers.

This darn thing is ingenious. Very sturdy, and yet folds up to an amazing small size. Who ever engineered this did a heck of a great job. I considered numerous options, but this really is the only way to go. You will not be sorry if you buy this.
