GearWrench MicrDrive Set is so handy I needed another
The Gearwrench MicroDriver set is a VERY handy set of tools. I liked it so much I just received a second set so I can have one for my box at home and another for the truck. The wrench itself is 5 1/8" (13.3cm) long and has reversible ratcheting 1/4" and 5/16" 12pt box ends with thumbwheels at opposite ends. The 5/16" end is 72 tooth and the 1/4" is 60 tooth. The box describes the MicroDriver as a "precision tool and is not intended to free frozen fasteners", so I wouldn't put a lot of elbow grease into breaking loose a rusty bolt or whatnot, but so far for me it has been perfectly capable of breaking loose all of the screws and small nuts I've used it for.The 1/4" end accepts standard 1/4" screwdriver bits. Eighteen 1/4" bits are included: Six SAE Allens (3/32, 1/8, 5/32, 3/16, 1/4, 5/16), Three Phillips (#1, 2, 3), Two Square (S2, S3), Three Slotted (5/32, 7/32, 9/32), and Four Torx (T20, T25, T30, T40).The 5/16" end accepts larger hand-impact-driver-sized 5/16" bits. Five 5/16" bits are included: One Allen (3/8), Two Torx (T45, T50), and Two Slotted (5/16, 3/8). The 5/16 end also accepts the included 1/4dr socket adapter for use with the included Five 6pt Metric sockets (8,10, 12, 13, 14mm) and Five 6pt SAE sockets (5/16, 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16).The bits fit snug and bottom out flush with the thumbwheel on the backside. It sometimes takes a little effort to remove them, especially with the smaller bits, bit that's good imho. They are not likely to slip out unintentionally even if the wrench is dropped. The case keeps everything compact and organized. The red bottom seems pretty rugged, and the clear top has held up so far for me but seems likely it would break under much of an impact or if dropped. Stored in a recess under the wrench is a belt clip which can be fastened to the back, though I'm not sure how advisable it would be to carry it that way. While I was able to cautiously turn the case upside down without the lid popping open and all the pieces stayed in place the latch doesn't exactly instill in me the kind of confidence I would need before I trusted doing much of anything with this set hanging on my belt. The only real con I can think of other than the clear lid which if it were up to me I'd have traded for a top made of the same material as the bottom with a sturdier designed hinge and latch, is that both wrenches seemed a bit starved for lubrication when I first got them. After working in a few drops of SuperLube Oil the wrenches seem much smoother.I've found this set to be an incredible value. Sure, I wish it was made in the USA instead of Taiwan and I'd have gladly paid a little more if it was, but for the asking price of less than a Jackson when I bought mine I have to consider it one of the better tool purchases I've ever made. I'm planning on picking up another set or two to give away as gifts.

Quality tool set!
Although one would think based on the cost of this GEARWRENCH set the quality would be compromised. Just the opposite! I literally use this daily and under pretty harsh conditions. It has performed beyond what I initially expected. The key feature that I want to talk about is how compact it is. The "micro" ratcheting is by far another key feature with this tool. It allows you to get into very tight spaces and with the micro ratcheting, complete loosening or tightening whatever it is you're working on. The selection of TORX bits is what I use most and the quality of the bits are trued and tested. I've dropped the carrying case 500x! The only thing I would recommend is using a rubber band around the case to keep it shut. I'm buying another one as a gift for a friend!UPDATE 3/10/2024 I've now purchased 5 of the Gearwrench sets! Since my original post, I use these several times a week. The mechanical aspects are perfect! The only downside to this is the plastic case isn't the quality needed for keeping everything organized. The plastic case will eventually break then that becomes a bit of a problem searching for the correct size. I've contacted Gearwrench with this problem but they haven't done anything to upgrade the case. So be sure to be careful and use a velcro strap to keep the lid in place as that breaks first.

Very nice, especially if you can get it on sale!
Excellent quality tools in a good quality case. Would be nice if the case latched more securely but it’s not bad. Ratchets move nicely and the tools work together well.I had a different micro ratchet like this years ago that got stolen. Needed one for some work in tight quarters replacing a temp blend door motor on our 2015 Ford Edge. There was maybe 1.5” of space to fit this in between the motor and the gas pedal lever among other things. This made it a 15-20 minute contortionist activity instead of a 2 hour contortionist job taking loose a bunch of stuff in the way. While others like it would have also worked, I only used the Phillips bit and this has a bunch of other options. Well worth what I paid, on sale!

Great Quality tools but the case???
Gearwrench tools are good quality tools for the money. BUT the cases suck!!! Cheap brittle plastic that breaks easily m. The protruding hinges break easy and do not hold up. Gearwrench, are you paying attention?? I’d be willing to pay more if you would put these tools in a better case that lasts….5 star for quality tool but 0 star for rotten case!
