Bad reaction to sunscreeen - careful with sensitive skin babies
The first time we applied this to our 10 month old son, he got a terrible rash\blotchy\swelling on his face after going into the sun. That has never happened before. We did some research on the ingredients in this product and one key ingredient in here is Oxybenzone--important for UVA protection apparently. Reading the internet (with caution), it seems there are some unproven questions about the safety of this chemical-it has been shown to be problematic on animals, but sufficient testing in humans is scarce. Consumer Reports, the source of our recommendation, also indicates in its buying guide the outstanding questions of this chemical's safety. The industry says it is fine. One research study I could find found that about 13 percent of (N=~50) were photo toxic sensitive to this chemical-that means when the chemical gets in the sun, it changes and can be problematic for those with sensitive skin or eczema. This product is sold as hypoallergenic for sensitive skin (ideal for face and body), but this chemical is questionable as it may react with the sun. Ignore the description. To be safe, consumer reports recommends that you apply sunscreen in a limited area to test your child-duh, I should have done that. Please learn from my mistake, test a sunscreen before you slather it on. Ones with this chemical especially. One eye on our son was really puffed out, clearly he got a bit in his eye. Within an hour of coming in out of the sun, he was like new again, amazing, That is the one good things about photo toxic chemicals (apparently their is such a thing, look it up!), it can be helpful to get the child out of the sun.Unfortunately, this chemical is in a lot of sunscreens and is apparently very helpful to block UVA. It is a trade off. I looked up the mineral based products, which are the way to go if you avoid Oxybenzone. Unfortunately, few of those do well against UVA--you need to choose very, very carefully, many mineral based products do not work as promised. In the end, cover up that child!I give this one star because advertising it as safe for sensitive skin and hypoallergenic, not so good.

Beware Pure Sun Defense formula has recently changed
I have been using this sunscreen for about a year and bought it based on CR's positive review last year. I have been extremely happy with the product and its performance. I went online recently to buy it and noticed that the Pure Sun Defense lotion, in all its various kiddie brands, is suddenly very difficult to find. Amazon and Walstore's websites both showed out of stock and my local Targstore did not have it stocked. I became worried and emailed them and asked about distribution problems. They responded and said to check local Walstore stores.Today I went to Walstore and found the product and noticed the packaging has slightly changed...instead of the writing being printed on the plastic there is a sticker overwrap around the bottle w/ the information on it. Upon closer inspection however I noticed the formula has changed as well. The active ingredients for the sunscreen chemicals are different percentages now and the list of ingredients is different too. I am sad this product has been reformulated and it probably explains the availability issue as well. I purchased the older original formula to be safe as this particular Walstore has the old and new packaging and formulas. Please note that CR's review of this product is based upon the old, original formula not what you may currently find in stores and performance of the new formula is unknown.

reasonable price, highly-rated product after testing
the teens hate the Frozen branding. I purchased it because this sunscreen is rated one of the best on the market -- despite the branding.
