I've been buying Venco salt licorice for years without incident, but when I bought it in November, it was more licorice than salt. I was worried that my favorite brand had let me down, so I tried Gustaf brand and was wonderfully impressed. Some said it had a bad smell, but it smelled as it should (if you grow up in Holland and grow up on salt licorice, you know what it should smell and taste like) it's not just a treat, it helps with a sore throat and soothes a uncomfortable stomach as well. (Look it up. Licorice helps with stomach upset) price was better than the venco I bought in November as well.

So, just to throw this out there, this product has ammonium chloride, not sodium chloride (table salt), to give it the salty taste. It tastes like salt, but your sodium levels are not in danger.That being said, it definitely is an experience to eat. This is a SAVORY candy, not a sweet candy. If you've never had a savory licorice candy before, I recommend starting out with the single salt first, and see how you like that, if at all. If you think amping up the bitterness and astringency is something you may find enjoyable, go for the double salt.If you're a parent and want to pull a prank on your child by giving them a piece with the (technical) truth that it is candy, you will just make them sad, even if you think it's hilarious. Yes, my father did this. Yes, it's very funny in retrospect. But I also remember this moment as one of the few times he actually gifted me candy, by hand, before the age of 10. So if you're planning on using this product to prank on your own child, be sure to follow that prank immediately with a gift of your child's favorite candy or sugary beverage. Not only will your child grow up with a healthy sense of humor, but their memory of you as a parent in their childhood will be slightly rosier, and thus they will be more willing to fund your retirement home when your savings finally dries up.Let this candy sit on your tongue. On occasion, dare to apply light pressure on the tablet, by sandwiching it between your molars lightly, but do not crush. Do NOT bite through and cut the tablet into smaller pieces in your mouth, because your saliva will overflow to combat the rush of ammonium chloride. After consuming three of these (in succession, not all at once), the rinsing of all that saliva will make your breath clean and sweet to the point that you'll feel anise all the way up in your sinuses.I love that there is a three-pack of this. I can keep one bag for myself. Another I'll donate to my team's collective candy table at work (and I will give them ample warning). The last bag I'm adding to the birthday care package that I will send to my father soon.

Being from the Netherlands I ordered a box of these bags. I love the taste but I HATE the fact that there are artificial colors in it. WHY??? It doesn’t show in the picture but it shows up on the ingredients list on the bag. So now they’ll go in the trash, I’ll never buy this brand again. In 2 weeks I’ll be in Holland and figure out what licorice to buy without poisoning myself.Very disappointed!!!

I can't stop eating these things. I'm afraid I'm going to die of salt poisoning (bag says no sodium oddly enough, so not sure what to make of that) seriously though if you like super hard super salty delectable licorice morcills sent from the heavens BUY THESE! The key is to chew them with ur back teeth slowly into a flattened coin shape then suck on them and u get this amazing sweet salty taste. Fair warning though, this is an aquired taste. I'm pretty sure you love them or you hate them. To the true salt licorice fan though, you can't go wrong here. Buy in bulk, it's worth it!....I'm totally eating one right now. Oh and bonus, they have like nothing in them, I swear I have lost 10 pounds since I got these (I have been eating them instead of snacks, probably not healthy but hey they are F'ING awesome) I think it's about 100calories and 17g sugar a serving, that's it! Nothing else , and a serving is a lot 3 per bag I think. These are def one at a time candies so it really drags out the enjoyment, way better than eating a whole carton of milk duds in one sitting (guilty lol). Anyway if I havnt made it clear enough yet, you should buy these. Mad props guys! Keep up the good work!

Great doublesalt. Starts out with a heavy salt presence and then the great flavor comes in as you suck on it. I've started double salt licorice years ago and this is the nest so far. Thanks!

They take awhile to get use to, as they are very salty. But it states double salt. I only ordered these because they would no longer send the coins to me and they doubled the price, so I wouldn't be ordering them anyway. If you like salty licorice..these are great!

I grew up with salty black licorice and I love these. Very fresh, soft and tasty.

According to the item description, it was supposed to be 3 bags. I only received 1 bag. These are as delicious as I had hoped they would be, but not sure where things went wrong. The AZ package was not damaged, but the inside bag was torn and only one 5.29oz bag was included, not three.This has apparently happened with others, but the seller did process a refund for me.However, these are damn good, and I'm angry that my blood pressure will likely go up because of my disappointment in the receipt and of course, the double salt licorice.
