Appears to be non genuine, very disappointing!
Not working. My iphone notifies me that this accessory is ‘not supported’.Centre terminal appears burnt out on both sides of connector. Paid £19 for something that doesn’t behave or even look/feel like a genuine apple ‘lightning cable’, shouldn’t be advertised as a genuine apple product. Inferior quality. Very disappointed. Having trouble reporting problems about it.Do not buy!

What comes after Lightning?
This is a genuine Apple USB-Lightning cable (1m). Comes in the Apple boxed packaging with a sealed tab.If you receive anything that is not as pictured (i.e. not boxed and not sealed), then don't even entertain using it - send it back.If upon opening the box, you see any blemishes or scratches on the cable or connectors - send it back.I would even go as far as saying to not even entertain a damaged box (unless you've purchased it on discount). Apple can afford to give you 100% perfection (at least on the 'Condition' of their products, if nothing else). As a 'product', I give it 4/5 stars - simply because it's the 'healthiest' option for your device on the market. If all you wanted was confirmation that this Apple cable was the real deal - then yes, THUMBS UP, no need to read further.___________However, I would really like to give it zero Stars. And if you want to know why? then read on...After going through a period of buying cheaper (and prettier) 'lightning' cables, we have conceded that they end up ruining the lightning connector on the actual device (ipad, iphone & ipod). Have you ever noticed how a third party cable is so much tighter when you insert it into your device (not ALL, but a good 95% of them!) compared to the original Apple cable?Ever wondered how much scratching or pushing away of the internal (device) copper connectors these tighter fitting cables cause? I can only assume this is because there is a minuscule difference in thickness to the lightning connector on these cables (thicker) compared to the Apple ones (after all, if they were made thinner, they would easily fall out..). Sooner or later your device ends up having an unreliable connection with the charging cable... only works one way, needs a little wiggle, etc.. (sound familiar?) And by then if after using a 3rd party cable, you revert back to a genuine Apple cable, it will no longer be able to connect flush with the copper connectors inside your device. Also, if you have a tendency to continue using your Apple device whilst it's charging, then it's hard to avoid that occasional tug and pressure that applies at the lightning connection. This is not advisable even with a genuine Apple cable, but only further worsens any damage already being caused by the majority of 3rd party Lightning cables. (Not to mention wear on the cable itself near the stress relief - that ultimately splits the outer sheath on the Apple cables).Have you ever taken your device to an Apple Store because your cable is no longer making a reliable charging connection? Ever get told it's because you've used non-Apple (or non- "genuine" Apple lightning adapters)? We have. Numerous times.Ever wondered how Apple's 'technicians' inspect and how they know your device has had third party Lightning cables being inserted?Ever wondered how much global turnover there is in these 'Lightning' cables?Ask yourself why: if the sheer quantity of these cables for sale is indicative of a reliable design/connection?**The Apple Lightning connector has got to rank as possibly the worse designed connector in modern times.**In our household, we have disposed of £1000's of Apple products in the last 7 years because of this weak and badly designed connector and at the very least spent £100's in getting a new/repaired charging connector inside our iphones/ipads on the general high street (if it was viable).I have never seen any other connector of any kind, on any other product, over the last 40 years fail as much! (I've been an Apple consumer for 30 years). In writing this review, Amazon also request an individual 'star' rating for 'Value for Money', 'Durability' and 'Sturdiness'.This 1m Apple Lightning has a rrp of £19. Although we only paid £16, it is still NOT value for money (especially if you knew the volume of cables that get manufactured solely for the aftermarket). It is far less 'durable' than any other 3rd party cable, in fact - the stress relief is inadequate and as mentioned before, is very common for the cable to split near the neck of the connector. .... And it's certainly not more 'sturdy' than you would expect for a flexible cable. However its not about the cost of the cable, but rather the cost of your device! In conclusion : Using these overpriced genuine Apple Lightning cables is unfortunately the only option to prolong the longevity of your Apple device. With today's trend of having always the 'latest model' every 12-18 months, perhaps the longevity of your device is not important to you.. perhaps it is.Final Question: What comes after Lightning?Answer: In Apple's world, Thunderbolts came BEFORE lightning, but whatever type of connector Apple decide on after their Lightning, heaven forbid, it's has to be an improvement - or just simply abandon it (in favour of USB-C). Either way, let's just hope it's sooner rather than later!
