I have been experimenting with different wood and briquettes for my smoker. These light easy enough and most important lasted a long time. The smoker is my own DIY creation from an old 20 gallon air compressor tank. The smoke gave a good flavor to the meat. Definitely worth the money.

This is some really great charcoal. I do a lot of grilling on both propane and charcoal. It lit quickly and burned evenly. The pieces were good size, nice mix of medium and large. Held heat for a long time, could have made some more food after. Amazing charcoal flavor of course. Plus it’s fair trade and helps people in Africa so it’s a win-win for me.

Worked great and provided nice flavor in my Pit Barrel Smoker. But very expensive.

This is a comment on the briquettes. It burns hot and flavourful, but if you want to reuse leftover charcoal, it crumbles to the touch and cannot be used again.

Picture is a little misleading as it makes it look like it comes with 2 boxes rather than 1. However even if more expensive than I originally though it is very good. The first box had a bunch of small pieces which I was going to be silent and upset about but they reached out to me instead and asked me if I was having that problem. When I said yes they sent me a replacement box which had much better sized lumps. If they could get their price down I would be able to recommend it to everyone but I understand that this quality is worth the price.

Worst lump charcoal I've ever purchased. Most of it fell through my grates and plugged the holes on my WSM. Had to constantly monitor and had to add another brand of charcoal to save Thanksgiving. Overpriced and overhyped. Will not purchase again. Waste of money.

Small surface area of lumps heat fast and burn hot. Great for searing steaks and hot enough to bake a pizza in seven minutes.Expensive. I use on a Big Green Egg so I can actually save any coals by cutting off the air supply after cook is done. Watch for seared eyebrows. Only happened once. Lesson learned.

I purchased the lump charcoal and was satisfied with my purchase. The longevity of the coals is consistent with other lump brands, but the Springbok version burned noticably "cleaner" for me. I always use charcoal when grilling, but have always hated the smoke smell sticking to my clothes and hair after cooking; this charcoal seems to remedy the issue.
