Fresh Breeze (Sei-fu) - Shoyeido Premium Daily Incense - 450 Stick Box

For decades Sei-Fu joss stix have been my fave offering from the House of Shoyeido. With its deeply herbal perfumes of Costas, Elecampane, Spikenard, Khus, Frankincense & Agar on an exquisite Sandal base, it's a magic which calls upon Chinese-Taoist alchemical medicines. Yet Sei-Fu shares nothing overt from Taoist-temple "wakefulness" incense traditions. It's more a traditional "springtime" scent- yet uniquely devoid of ALL floral notes! 🤮This supports a "calm abiding" type of contemplation.But Sei-Fu goes beyond:To my nose, the Shoyeido "Premium Daily Incense" catalogue (three offerings, containing this Seifu [Fresh Breeze] blend, plus the En-mei [Circle] and Matsu-no-tomo [Friend of Pine] sticks) is far, FAR more mind-expanding than most of the (even more quiet and much, much more expensive) "Shoyeido Premiums".To me the top-tier Shoyeido Premium joss stix work best as perfumes. Still, warmed over some heat, their effects do expand a bit. But when i burn them, they're so refined they lose their heft.Being perfume based, those aromas don't linger once burned.Burning Sei-Fu joss otoh, actually allows the herbal & resinous bottom-note blend to expand....!And for a Japanese perfume, Sei-Fu carries the most amazing BOTTOM ever. I find this bass-note expansion is endlessly compelling.An exceptional product!'tis good this box is so large 😇
