Wow !! This book was fantastic 👏 It's YA in High School , but the MC & FC were more mature than teens & most of the time it seemed as if they were a few years older .After reading the first few pages , I was feeling a bit apprehensive about continuing, but I plowed through and so glad I did as the story was brilliantly written. Carter & Zoey's characters were well fleshed out , had good background stories & the main story was very gritty & powerfulMake sure to read TW's as I love dark romance bully stories but even I felt squeamish at what was happening in the first pages ! I loved Zoey's character she was extremely likeable & level-headed . I didn't take to Carter at first he was manipulative, cruel & lacking empathy but as you got to know him through the book you realised something bad had happened to him & it was a shocker !!! Well done Sam Mariano a thoroughly great read & I definitely recommend you read this book now I'm onto the next one 👍 😀

I hate to admit but I really enjoyed reading this book. A horrible storyline and some really nasty characters. But once I got into it I really enjoyed it. This story really does make you think, lots of right and wrong moments and so many parts are just wrong but it just turns out right. Zoey Ellis has made a name for herself in school and it’s not a good one. She stood up and spoke out and landed herself in a whole heap of trouble. This whole town sticks together, but luckily for Zoey she has a thick skin and tries to ride it out and keep on with her studies determined to get out of town for college. Carter Mahoney is king of the Jocks and now Zoeys biggest tormentor. What starts off as a bit of bullying turns into a sexual assault and then turns into so much more and it’s really hard to get your head around the lengths that Carter will go to in his quest for control, not only over Zoey but everyone else. There is a line between what right and wrong and this crosses it on so many occasions but it seems the more it goes on the more Zoey enjoys it. We do find out Carter’s story in the end and I expected something along the lines of what occurred and was so sad for him, he is one of those characters that you hate, like, hate, like.

Ok so I finished this book last night. So let me start by saying please please heed the authors warning! If you have any sexual abuse/assault triggers please read this book with caution!So.. my thoughts now! Well I LOVED IT! So many people messaged me and warned me it’s super dark (which made me wanna read it more 💀) and to be fair it starts off veryyyyyy dark! But honestly, I think the ‘worst’ bit is in the first few chapters.I know I may be sick in the head but I actually adored Carter 💀💀 he was one of the biggest a**holes ever and so domineering and arrogant but my god I just loved him.And Zoey was such a brilliant FMC. She was hilarious, witty, strong and so thick skinned. I loved their relationship and how it grew.I have to say this was one of my favourite bully romances I’ve read.. I loved the dialogue between the characters and how in depth it went about why they both behaved the way they did. It was so cleverly written and touched on so many different subjects. I really loved that! This was my first book by Sam but it will not be my last! 🖤

Decided to give this a go after seeing it recommended a few times on a group!Safe to say I absolutely loved it it’s been a while for me since I read a 5star book or a book that’s held my attention after being in a book slump this pulled me out. I devoured this book and litreally didn’t not want to put it down even at 4am!This book has triggers and starts out from the first chapter dark but I loved that about this book how it was right in there with the story line and never got boring! Carter is all kinds of messed up but does it make me sick that I loved his messed up ness! Scenes where hot, the writing was amazing, the plot twists were great if loved to see more characters from this book get books or another book for these with a baby short novella ❤️pleaseeeeeeee off to go see if Sam has more dark deprived books

Spoilerish -Rarely have I read a book that left me unsure regarding if I enjoyed it or not. It's well written and Zoey - our female lead is mostly likeable. Carter - our male lead. Is not likeable. Or is he?!I read the first section of the book through gritted teeth adamant I wouldn't continue after that, but I did anyway. It felt kind of wrong to WANT them to get together. They're both toxic, Carter is basically abusive in multiple ways to extremes. I liked the amount of depth Zoey had as a character and I kind of thought it would end as a revenge story, but it didn't. It had a HEA.I've read a fair few bully/dark romance books, this is the most extreme I have read. It didn't sit right with me, but I still enjoyed it. Can you tell how confused I am?

I’ll admit, this book did throw me for a loop,especially in the beginning. I have a very difficult time reconciling Carter in the beginning of the story to Carter at the end of the story. I do wish this were a duet book that could have explored more of their time together btw the two Christmases. I would have liked to have known how they told Chloe the truth for example. I feel like it ended too soon. It was a great read and very well written, but I also would have liked something from Carter’s POV too, maybe like an extra epilogue at least. But I do recommend this book….. if you can get past the first 35 pages! That was a little tough for me.

Kept me reading it was extremely good and enticing. Keeps you r mind wondering what’s to come. Definitely not for the faint hearted it’s a dark love.

This book is now my #1 favorite book for sure. The book is definitely dark romance, and Carter is not a good guy, for sure, but Zoey is a strong girl.I finished this book in less than a day, I couldn’t stop reading.

This book comes with a lot of warnings. It took some strength to get past the first few chapters. But once I did, I loved it.These characters are different and intriguing. And the story is very well written.

I loved this book, it is dark and gritty and awesome. There isn’t a book like this one. He is really manipulative even I would doubt myself with him around. I liked the fact that the heroine is not a push over. The hero is not redeemable he even isn’t trying to be, but that just made the book more interesting. Their relationship works for the both off them, even when in the real world it would not be a healthy one, but hey it is a book so enjoy. This is not a dime a dozen.
