Q: Can cardinals, blue jays, or woodpeckers access the feeder

I've seen larger birds like blue jays, black birds and cardinals poke their heads or beaks through for a few bites, but they cannot get inside. The smaller sparrows are finally having a field day! They get right in there and sit around for awhile. So cute.

Q: What is the most appropriate seed for this feeder? Medium size holes leak out many seeds, but fruit chunks and peanuts block the holes. Thanks.

My favorite seed for this feeder is Kaytee Wild Finch Wild Bird Food. It is just the right size for the birds to get it out easily from the small holes in the feeder tube.

Q: Will this keep out mice? I live in the desert and the field mice are all over the feeder at night, no matter what I've tried.

I'm not sure as far as mice,to be honest with you. It is however a great feeder at the price. It has worked very well for my mother and my Sister. It is a great feeder. Hope I e help in some small way

Q: Is it good to keep Starlings out

Small birds can enter easily Wrens, finches etc. I doubt starling would be able to fit between bars. Just be careful of the birds feet. Bottom not sealed to bars and i had 3 birds get their claws stuck.
