Droll Yankees Onyx Clever Clean and Fill Nyjer Seed Bird Feeder, 18 Inches, 4 Ports, Black

This is a sturdy little feeder that holds a decent amount of seed. With only four ports, it does take the finches quite a while to eat through. Cleaning the feeder is doable, with most of the pieces able to be removed, but not quite as easy as it could be. I wish the clear plastic part opened like a clamshell to let you really get in there and clean it better.

Pro: attractive, well built. Very high quality manufacturing. No trouble unpacking, installing, and filling.Con: I have yet to see a bird go near it. It has the same thistle seed in it that I've used for years in this area. It's the only one of my several feeders that the birds ignore entirely.

Highly recommended. Of the three different finch feeders I have, this is my favorite and the favorite of the goldfinches. They must like the perches and feeding ports. As it is a Droll Yankees product, it is high quality. They stand behind their products; some part fell off another kind of feeder due to squirrels, and when I called to purchase a replacement part, it was sent to me free. Being able to remove the bottom makes cleaning much easier. (I purchase two and so always have a clean one to use.) Other feeders of this size can have six ports, but I don't find it to be an issue. The birds will come back and get their fill. Or, if you have many birds coming to eat, then get two or more feeders!

The design is wonderful, the quality excellent! But the SEED PORT HOLES ARE HUGE HUGE, and this was advertised as a feeder for smaller songbirds, canaries in particular...If you have money to burn on bird seed and don't mind the mess this feeder would be ideal. So disappointed!

Very easy to clean and fill.

We have a number of tube feeders and this design is the best because it makes cleaning the easiest. We are birders from way back, have three bird feeding area on our 2 acres of lawn and woodlands and have tried just about all feeders available. A good tube feeder has a number of feeding ports reinforced with metal to keep the rodents at bay and are easy to fill, there are lots to chose from BUT cleaning the darn things can be such a pain! This tube opens easily and the inside is unobstructed, easy, peasy cleaning with a brush...yay!

We've had several thistle "Nyjer" feeders over the years. Our birds are fickle and don't always hit the feeder on a regular basis. The last time this happened, the thistle went bad, which meant all those old-style ports needed a thorough cleaning. What a hassle. This style allows the ports to be easily removed. There are three options to choose from on Amazon. 2 port, 4 port and 6 port. We went with the 4 port because we also have a sunflower chip (shelled sunflower seeds) feeder next to this. The finches will eat either one, so they don't "stack up" on the thistle feeder.

Like this feeder ,only complaint lid doesnt lock well have to work it with it to get it to stay shut. Bonus came with a seed tray attached and a free feeder brush.which wasnt in picture ,4 star only cause of lid issue.

The product is true to the description. It was well packed, so there was no damage to it when it arrived. We have only had this new feeder about two weeks, and I have read that it takes the birds a bit to get used to the new feeder when you make the change. We have an older much more open feeder. The birds (and squirrels) still prefer this old one. But I believe you have to give it time...this new feeder is built well and is easy to fill with seed. So far I really like it. It is also much lighter than the old wooden heavy one, and most importantly it’s squirrel proof! The perches appear to be a bit small, but I am not a bird.... so this may be no problem for them. Over all we really like it!
