A few years later
It's been a few years and we've probably eaten these once a month during that entire period. Yes they are prepackaged and dried. Yes the noodles are not absolutely fresh. But they are really really terrific. We add shrimp or chicken or tofu or any other protein, along with lots and lots of vegetables, and it's a brilliant filling dinner.A few tips. We cook the noodles in a separate pot of water, and we drain them but don't bother rinsing in cold water. Before we put the noodles into cook we already have our bowls set out, with everything that's going to be added. Those are given a 15 or 20 second microwave spin just before the noodles are done, to take the edge off the refrigerator cold.We have in the past added sesame oil, hot oil, crunchy garlic with chili oil, chopped up scallions or toasted onion as a garnish. Pretty much anything works if you like it.

Very tasty!
I watched some videos online where chefs were asked to taste different instant noodle varieties and comment on them. Every time they tried this one, they had good things to say about it. I decided to order a package and try it out. I have to say, it was an incredibly pleasant surprise. The noodles are about as good as any you're going to get in an instant ramen package, and better than some of the cheaper brands. The sauce, though, is what really sets these apart. It's creamy and delicious, like something you might order take-out from a restaurant. Major improvement over similar instant noodle products. With the addition of some protein and veggies, you could probably fool some folks into thinking they're getting something from a restaurant. I definitely recommend these.

It is good but not for everyone
Only say this because this soup has a very strong dry shrimp taste

the worlds best instant noodles? ?? ? youll never guess what happened next
ok so i got these instant noodles because a handful of reviewers claimed that these were the best or second best instant noodles in the universe. the package comes with a round dried noodle block, a packet of coconut milk dehydrated dust, and a packet of flavor paste/soup base. after preparing it according to instructions on the package, the bowl of noodles was letting off a bit sinister shrimp pastey stench. BUT once i tasted the broth Wow its really really good, very very shrimpy, the coconut milk is so creamy and delicious, and the noodles are a wonderful toothsome texture. im very interested to try this with actual shrimps and maybe some green onions in it. bottom line this is delicious instant noodle very impressive, and i think its a reasonable assessment to say these are one of the greatest instant noodles

Too expensive to experiment
I saw the reviews. Most people like this. I am disappointed. The noodles alone taste good. The broth forgettable. The broth packets consists of coconut powder and shrimp paste. I love seafood and coconut, but this was bad. It wasn’t real spicy. The powder coconut was like unsweetened coconut creamer. The shrimp paste smelled and tasted like you expect. You cannot return it either. Maybe it would taste better if I added stuff, but I shouldn’t have too. It tastes like 3 separate flavors shrimp, coconut and spice. They never come together. I am so tempted to throw it out. I don’t wanna spend more money on seafood to perk up this disappoint.

Shrimpy
Like many of you I got this off the ramen ratings guy's site. Be forewarned - the shrimp paste is a very acquired taste for Western taste buds. My dog actually left the room when I started cooking this. I almost followed him. But I toughed it out and tasted it. Think baby shrimp scooped out of the ocean with all the other little critters that came along, dumped in the sun on a slab in Singapore to dry for who knows how long, scraped up, ground up and squirted into a bag. Now it has a certain umami don't get me wrong. But it is a tough row to hoe. The noodles, on the other hand, are exceptional. Air dried vs fried is the way to go. The coconut paste is fine and makes for a creamy mouth feel and whitish broth.

The smell of SE Asia
I first had Laska in a lakeside hotel in Yangon Burma. I loved it then and had it a number of times during my visits. This is excellent.
