Caran d'Ache Ecridor Retro Palladium Finish Rollerball Pen

I love fountain pens. This is a mid range option but it drys out quickly, the cap isn’t adherent to the top and ink flows heavily.

I own three items from the Ecridor range - the fountain pen, ballpoint and mechanical pencil. All three are a joy to use.The mechanical pencil has (like all the other writing instruments in this range) a lovely weight to it. It uses 0.7mm leads. There is a rubber concealed underneath the end cap. No more cheap throwaway plastic pencils for me!This is my most recent acquisition from the Ecridor range and I shall treasure it always. My other Ecridor pens (fountain pens and ballpoints) are serving me well even after 12 years! Truly exceptional quality, worth every penny.

The refill is not sitting inside firm, so it dances around when you write. For a 100 quid pen that is unacceptable. The pen itself is relatively short, not very confortable to hold. Caran D'Ach should stick to pencils in my opinion. Pens are not their strongest side.

Kept drying up mid sentence. Had to a send it back in the end. I’ve had few fountain pens (but never one this expensive) and this never happened. Giving it a 3 for the benefit of the doubt.

Classic design, flawless quality. Medium nib and using with J.Herbin ink, I cannot fault this, and in time am sure I will add more of the range to my collection. Maybe the pencil next...
