Game Changer for a Newbie like Me
I'm new to embroidery though. I've been doing other handicrafts for years. Although I have never had a problem with wrist pain, when I first started embroidering, I found that after a short time, the wrist of my non-dominant hand would hurt. That may be because I don't know what I'm doing, but I decided I needed something to take the pressure off of my hand. This stand is great! I put the base underneath my leg so that I can adjust the height and also make sure that my cat can still lounge in my lap (she would do it anyway, but this makes it so that we can both be comfortable and go about our business without getting in each other's way). The clamp does a good job holding the embroidery hoop still, and I like the convenient knob that allows you to rotate the hoop and view the back of the work. It was easy to put together. The only thing I've found that could use some work is the knob that allows you to adjust the height of the work is a little stiff.I've only been using it for a few days now, but I definitely recommend it to anyone just getting into embroidery regardless of whether they have pre-existing wrist problems or not.

A great hand saver
I am in love with this stand. It is so easy to assemble that no directions are needed. It's beautiful plain wood that can be stained or painted if you wish to do so. It holds the hoop securely. The hoop can be tilted to work on the project, you can turn the main shaft to get the hoop in another position. I have arthritis in my left hand really bad and it's starting in my right. This allows me to embroider without straining my hands to hold and move the hoop. All I have to do is slip the long paddle under my leg, fasten in my hoop, and off I go. I can and have worked for hours without realizing how much time had gone by because there was no strain on my hands. Or eyes. The center pole can be extended so it can be put on a stool instead of under the leg to work on it. It does not extend high enough to put it on the floor and work from a chair. So happy I bought. More than worth the money.

It works!
Finally happy to get one that works. And good quality. This is my 3rd attempt to buy embroidery stand. Twice previous purchases were from different sellers, cheaper but always something wrong with it and the wood is not smooth. This one is well made, smoother wood, thicker and larger base, (which means sturdier), taller in height adjustment, extra support holding the hoop with the space for the screw part of the bamboo hoop. This part will not work with plastic hoop that has different size screw and thickness of the hoop. But it'll hold the edge of the hoop well enough.Although the part no.5 and 7 is reversed. I was puzzled at first but solved the problem and made it worked. It might have been a mistake but still works. It's definitely the upgraded version, the pic and info included both. I wasn't completely sure which one I'll be receiving. Phew!Came with clear instruction manual and careful packaging. I'm now pleased with my purchase finally and glad that I chose the ungraded version.

Not for long usage!
Got it and after months all the screws started to be loose. Now the hoop doesn’t stay still!

Makes Embroidery Comfortable
This holder is handy to embroider more comfortably. I thought I could do my hobby without it, but it has been a game changer! It’s easy to put together and use.

Does a great job!
If you’re stitching without a stand you’re not doing your best work. It takes a little adjusting to as your hoop is held in a single spot and you have to move but the back pain isn’t there for me, I’m not having find a random surface to balance myself against in order to balance the hoop awkwardly on my knee and chest. Your French knots will look like you actually knew what it was supposed to look like. Don’t wait until you feel like it might be something to invest in. You’ll frustrate yourself and burn yourself, unless you are extremely stubborn, waiting for the moment you feel like it’s worth it.The new stand appears to have a deeper lamp that allows more of the hoop to be held which is a definite improvement! My hoop has yet to slip out mid stitch. If you have a stitcher friend or loved one show them some love with a stand, they will come back to you and tell thank you!

Good if you are just beginning and don’t know if you’ll stick with needlework
I am a beginner and this is better than holding the hoop, but I opted to return it and splurge a lot more $ for the floor based model by: Nurge (Adjustable Embroidery floor stand). This way I could embroider hands and legs free and not worry about this small stand slipping out from under my leg on the sofa. IF you are JUST starting out this is a help, but IF you enjoy needlework and hope to continue, save your money on this item and purchase the floor version by Nurge.
