Bright and super lightweight. Hardly could tell it’s on my head and it a simple synching bands make it easy to take on and off with and without a hat on.

I was hoping to use these on an upcoming trip but when I finally opened the package, I realized how difficult it is to change the settings on the light. It would be impossible to do when the lamp is on your forehead. You have to turn it on and put it in the setting you want before you turn it on, and you have to leave it that way. I was hoping for something that could be easily adjusted. But even when doing it by holding it, it was still seriously difficult. I could barely turn it from "Off" to any other settling. I would return these and try another.

I'm a fanatic about headlamps and own 7. This is definitely the smallest with the Petzl e+lite coming in at a close second. Both are priced the same and both use 2 CR2032 batteries with about the same maximum brightness of 40 lumens - good to about 10 feet away. While the Petzl switch is gentle enough to shift with one hand while on your head, the Black Diamond switch is so firm, you need two hands to twist it to the various settings before strapping it onto your head. However, the Petzl switch has a reputation for being a bit fussy and wearing down out in the field. I find the Flare to be more sturdiiy built and more reliable. If I had to choose, I would definitely go with the Black Diamond for its ingenious simplicity and superb construction.Update 12/11/'22: Unfortunately, I must now downgrade my initial 5 star review to 2. After a few months of very gentle use, the frame has begun to crack at various stress points. As it turns out, the plastic used - in combination with a flawed design in frame thickness - has made it susceptible to cracking, which will inevitably occur at any stress points. As you can see, I've had to use Super Glue to remedy the disappointing situation. I'm afraid Black Diamond should have done more field testing before releasing these for general sale.

Very nice design. Amazing for reading or ultra light camping. Unfortunately the non-rechargeable batteries are a big no-no. There are already knock off lights (QGOO) of similar size for $17 available with USB-C charging capability. If these companies can make a profit it must be possible for BlackDiamond. I’d love to buy a version that at least accepts LIR2032 batteries, but these have a higher voltage and will kill the LED. If BD could update the LED controller for a wider input voltage that should solve the issue. Should be a small change and not affect existing production or design except for a new PCBA.

Got this for early morning goose hunting,is plenty bright on white and red to aid me getting in to position. Battery life is sufficient and spares are easy enough to pack given they are coin size...I've soaked it dropped it in mud and still shining away,a decent bit of kit.

軽さは勿論 しまった時の寸法に驚きです。回すスイッチは固く片手では無理ですが割りきりは必要です。スイッチは初めが赤は自分は眩しくなく助かります。これは好みがあるでしょう。ストラップのプラスティックが左右でおでこに食い込み跡ができますが、素肌でなくビーニーなど被れば問題ありません。バックアップとしてマグライトのソリテールを持参しています。この電池は何処でも手に入るのでいいですね。（交換は数年先と思いますが）

ペツルとの比較レビューが少なかったので、実際にAmazonで購入した私が、購入せずに取ってつけたようなレビューを参考に、実際に比較してみました。ちなみに私は元山屋で、ヘッデンは全てペツルを使ってきた30年選手です。もちろんe+liteも初代、二代目と所有していますが、三代目はパスしました。１：装着感e+liteのほうがおでこにはなじみますが、フレア（当製品）は軽量なので、実際のところ大した差はありません。夜釣りで使ってみましたが、朝まで装着してもメガネと変わらないくらいの装着感で楽勝でした。２：操作性e+liteはクリック感があって軽く、フレア（当製品）はアナログタイプでロータリースイッチです。もっとも、後述しますがペツルには致命的欠陥があるので、このクリック感という点をよく覚えておいて欲しいところです。非常時には操作の確実性が求められるため、フレアのほうがよいと思います。３：光量露骨なくらいフレア（当製品）のほうが明るく、照射範囲も妥当な水準です。e+liteは正直、屋内でも暗いです。暗順応を妨げない赤色LEDでは、e+liteが文字も読めないレベルで暗いのに対して、フレアははっきりと字が読めます。非常時に最低限の安全をはかるという点では、圧倒的にフレアが有利ですね。総評：ペツルのe+lite、BlackDiamondのフレアともに、非常用のライトです。いざというとき、確実に作動しなければ意味がありません。あくまで個人的な体験ですが、二代目e+liteを操作した時、スイッチをスライドしても点灯せず、クリック感のあったスイッチが経年劣化で空転、強く押しながら動かさないと使い物にならなくなってしまいました。購入後、使用したのはわずかに数回で、非常用の装備としてアルミの密閉容器に入れて保管していたにも関わらずです。仕方がないのでスイッチを分解すると、樹脂の経年劣化と、バネの不良でした。元に戻しても接点不良が改善されないため、電子部品専用のパーツ取り備蓄に回しました。少なくとも、エマージェンシーライトとしての耐久性は失格です。この点、片手でカチカチできない代わりに剛性が高く、誤操作もないフレアは信頼性の点で e+lite を上回っていると考えます。非常時にはここが重要です。ペツルのヘッドライトは大変すばらしいものですが、エマージェンシー用ではもう購入しないと思います。あとはフレアの耐久性を実地で評価したい所です。

OFF→赤灯→赤点滅→白弱→白強→SOSの順番です。普通に使うのにOFFから白までが遠い。赤と白を逆に配置してあれば、こまめにオンオフしやすいのに。でも軽さには驚かされたので星四つ。
