A reasonable story but not great!
This is a reasonable story but not great. I like the story as it was easy to read and I listened to the audiobook which was very good. The book is about the continuation of the Lanky war with Earth. The reason why this book isn’t great is because it is nothing but a book one story to the next book 2. It leaves the readers hanging in a situation that they waited for the entire book to occur. Books like this frustrate me. I respect the author, Marco Kloos, as he has written many good books and I have enjoyed them all. That is why this book for me is not great as it left me hanging at a point in the story where I was ready for the real action.I still rated the book four stars as I realized that I would read it again and wait for the next one to come out. I just wish the storyline had more meat in it regarding military battle because that is the style of sci-fi that I enjoy the most. Marco is good at writing this style of book and I hope he hits a home run with the follow-up book in this series.

great read!
Another great addition to the Frontlines series! If you haven’t read this series, I highly recommend it! Marco Kloos knows how to mix science fiction and military knowledge flawlessly.

Page-turner as usual
After all these years I have not learned my lesson: ration the latest in the Frontlines series. As it happened, I read this in the space of 2 days. I know it will be a while until the next one comes out, so why do I do this to myself? Also, even though I know that the author will surprise me, I am still shocked by the twists and turns he throws into the story, and this time I even said "WTF?!" out loud when the newest one popped up.The Frontlines series is a very well-crafted "space-kablooie" saga about Earth's epic battle with an alien race. Each installment makes an effort to catch the reader up which I imagine would draw in a new reader, too, without rehashing the past stories too much to get in the way of the new action. In Orders of Battle, our hero Andrew Grayson, the Forest Gump of the Lanky wars, is at the front lines once again as a new frontier is discovered on what was billed as a quick in and out mission. As unlikely as that is, he's such a well-crafted character whose point of view matures along with the books in the series. Even he is shocked by the turn of events, and as the reader, so are you. Fans of military sci-fi and great storytelling will not be able to put this one down. Whatever Scooby snacks Kloos is eating, I hope he continues chowing on them, so we can get more Frontlines soon!

Another great read from Kloos, but.........
I am a fan of hard technological military space sifi and Marko Kloos does this well. His writing is excellent. The technology is believable and his characters are well developed "real" people. The one annoying trait in his writing is his books tend to end like a TV series, with each being a mission in the Frontlines universe. This is usually ok as there is finality to the particular mission. It is over and they all RTB. There are still a lot of unanswered questions, like who are the Lankys, where are they from and what do they want. But that particular book is done and the universe is still there all setup for the next book. <CAUTION, possible spoiler alert> For this book however the story didn't complete. Kloos ends with a cliff hanger like a TV series, which means we need to get the next book, which unfortunately will not be out until August 2021. In the imortal words of Chuck Larabee, "Not Cool".

Orders of Battle (Frontlines Book 7) - mission Grayson just can't say no to!
Well, well, well, just when you think things can't get worse, you find yourself smack dab in the middle of worse! There is also the saying, 'Leave well enough alone.' However, if you are responsible for protecting earth from alien invaders, simple phases and cliques do not apply. Few wars get better on their own, meaning things will get worse, and you can't leave well enough alone. After a time of R&R with Halley, Major Grayson is summoned by his superior and thorn in his side, General Masoud. A mission is available if you choose to accept it. (Yeah, I ripped that off, too.) If you've read this far in the series, you know Grayson can't say, 'no'.The circumstances in this book exposed several of my latent fears, like boldly going where aliens want to kill you - in a spaceship, a very big spaceship. This is another exciting book in the Frontlines Series, Orders of Battle, #7. It ended before I wanted it to, but thankfully, I already have Book 8, Centers of Gravity. The audible performance is by an excellent, well-known voice, Eric G. Dove. -Mr.Bill

Wonderful, gripping plot.
Totally immersive plot, real characters. I'm ready for book 6. Books 1-4 I listened to but change of narrator brought me to Kindle instead.

Awesome as always
Competent writing all around. Captivating characters and thrilling story, even though there is far less action than the previous ones. And what a cliffhanger! Can't wait to read the next book!

Easy and fun to read - Been a great series since book 1!
Overall, I really enjoyed it. Been reading since Book 1, and now read Marko Kloos books as soon they come out, and always wait for the next one. 7 books in, I feel there should be some major breakthrough....Grayson is getting old now!Would like to see more in depth science/ history/ culture/theories of Lankies. Having an enemy that does not communicate except with violence is limiting... would like to see some major breakthrough in humans' understanding of their enemy. The book does spend a lot of time setting up a major "thing" so I am hoping book 8 goes into that more. Also if this ends with Grayson, and there is no "next generation" I hope we see a good finale in future books.

Not the best in the series
Comparing to the other books in the series This one is slow paced. Takes until chapter 20 to get some action and ends right when things start to get interesting.
